I am playing OSP and piloting a not so tricked out Clydesdale through the whole of Sirius - a voyage of Discovery as it were. I'm not sure why, but I seem to have gathered enough noteriety to be KOS to the following groups: Bretonia Police Guard// Liberty Naval Guard// Kusari Naval Forces Guard// Gaian Guard
The really weird thing is that all of their police, navy and other military units think I'm the greatest thing since sliced bread. As near as I can determine I haven't killed any of their forces or allies, but I did poke my head into the Cinncinatti system which really seemed to bust their crank because I heard what sounded like large hail striking a tin roof for the few seconds before I was vaporized. I took this to be a bad sign and I started trying to ouija out just who I had killed to make them so mad!
So, are there certain systems that one should avoid until I get my first battle star - like maybe Cinncinatti and perhaps others? Just thinking about the good guys here - the bad guys are going to come after me anyway.
Lastly, I can't find these guys (Guard groups) on the NPC factions list posted on the Discovery 485 wiki site. They do pop-up on my player status window (F8) and I'm in solid (either Neutral or Green) with every one of their allies listed there - except for maybe the Gaians. Maybe I'm in too good with someone.
Guard groups are just an elite version of their faction, all they do is guard the factions home systems and are meant to be elite..so they do hurt. And they usually hostile to everyone that doesn't have nearly full rep with their mother faction.

The main point of this is a guard systems are enclosed military facilities. What will hapeen if you will try to walk at Area-51 at example? Or Fort-Knox?
Here is a list of all the guard systems in the mod, according to the Wiki. To my knowledge, -all- guard systems are on full hostile to anyone not being directly a member, or a close (full) ally with the guard faction. Avoid those systems if you don't have explicit permission to enter them when you are not a member of that faction (with the exception of Baffin, which zoners have opened to some traffic):
And Conneticut is an exception, it's basically an oorp PVP arena where all PvP rules are thrown out the window. Enter there in a freigher and you can expect to be blown to pieces.
Wide awake in a world that sleeps, enduring thoughts, enduring scenes. The knowledge of what is yet to come.
From a time when all seems lost, from a dead man to a world, without restraint, unafraid and free.
Mostly retired Discovery member. May still visit from time to time.
It's worth pointing out that official factions get really irritated if you exploit the IFF system to become neutral with Guard factions to fly around their systems.
Guard systems - I read through the list at the link provided by Aeternus and a great many questions got answered quickly. Thanks again folks.
I managed to back track looking for the system in question but in the process I killed oodles of Rogues and Outcasts so now the Liberty Police and Navy are back to Neutral with the exception of Ellesmere. I am still KOS in Hiroshima, Oita, Puerto Rico and Cassini and I assume throughout the Gaian systems as well. I'm sure there are more but now I have a better understanding of why and how to alleviate the issue.
Juggling so many competing factions adds to the fun even as it makes the game more difficult. Kill a few Corsairs on a mission then run over and kill a herd of Outcasts and Rogues to smooth things over. I'll just have to pay attention and save, save, save.
By the way - I am enjoying every minute of FL Discovery 4.85. It takes FL from a very good game to a great game. I needed a quick break from Fallout and I stumbled upon Freelancer again - then found Discovery and I haven't played Fallout for the last 3 plus weeks. I wish I had the time and access for multiplayer but for now OSP is all I can swing.
