I was looking at some of the other freelancer mods, and I noticed that almost all of the Star Wars mods have cockpits authentic to the games / movies / universe. I have always been irked by the way the insides of the ships look, basically them being so dang bland.
How do I import / change the cockpit interior? And if I imported, say the interior to a star wars mod ship, would it kick me for cheating?
I'd say don't.
For changing cockpit for ships you have to change shiparch.ini where alot of other important stuff listed. If you do that you'll be kicked for using non discovery mod probably.
But it's not that hard.
cockpit = cockpits\liberty\l_fighter.ini
Copy cockpit files to right directories and then point on the one you need in shiparch.ini.
we can look into cockpits at some time ( yes, i know ppl hate that term ) - but currently, we re more concerned with "more important" stuff to get the update out and rolling.
cockpits are but flashy stuff that are mostly insignificant to many ppl, cause they play without cockpit meshes anyway. - so it is of secondary nature atm.
The ini files merely talk about the distance from the ship etc including turret view. What you are talking about is the actual cockpit models.
You'll find them in Freelancer/DATA/COCKPITS.
Yes, you WILL get kicked if you try and use a custom one. Cannons new thingy is freaking amazing at catching changes. The cockpits are a .cmp or .3db model.
Then again... you might be able to replace the files with new cockpit .cmps and .3dbs and it MIGHT not kick you. I say might.
Well replacing the already existed cockpits probably will work. But that will replace all cockpits on ships where they are used. (like osiris have cockpit of liberty guardian)
And there is no way to add cockpit to only one ship that you interesting in without being kicked out.
