Jack woke up from a nightmare, one that he had been dreaming over and over again. It was always the same underlying theme: predictable loss of something precious, the futile attempt not to lose it, ups and downs, hope and despair, and the catastrophe at the end.
This time the dream was stopped by a gentle touch of the shoulder, but still Jack was startled and confused for a second, before he realised the surrounding. It was a small, brightly lit floor, with many colorful flowers in both sides but the lighting and the dresses of the people hurrying around told him that he was still in the small medical department of Skye Base, Newcastle.
He looked at a doctor, perhaps 50 years old, who nodded to him and pointed him down the corridor: "She will regain consciousness soon... the injuries were not too serious, only the blood loss could have caused damage. She will be weak for a few more days, but not in a dangerous condition..." the doctor tells him in a matter of fact voice, while Jack walks next to him.
"I understand from the sum of money transferred and your choice of names or the absence of names and your safety measures that this is not a normal... patient." and Jack confirms this with a short nod of the head.
"When can she be moved?" Jack asks and the doctor shrugs, seemingly accepting that he will not be told more than that.
"Depends on how much you like her... I'd wait for at least a day to give her body the time to stabilize and we need to run some more tests. Then she can be put into a transfer coma with minimal risk or be transported while conscious, the first alternative being the safer and more comfortable option." he explains.
"Run your tests then. But be prepared to move her into my ship in case I tell you in a hurry." he says, already reaching for the door opener. The doctor nods silently, then he activates the unlocking mechanism and lets Jack into the small room.

Melfina awakes in a comfortable bed, she will see the light green ceiling and the artificial light that is dimmed. She will notice that she is wearing a clean hospital nightdress and that she is connected via some sensors to some fancy looking machines and monitors that check and display her vital signs. A nano transfusion needle is sticking in her left armpit and when she tries to move her arms she will find out that her wrists are fixed by cushioned straps to the sides of her body. Jack is holding her hand, slowly stroking the back of it with his thumb. It's a warm and soft touch, while he watches her slowly regaining consciousness.
"It's me... Jack." are the words he whispers when her lids start fluttering and she opens her eyes and once she has met his eyes, he comtinues in a soft tone: "You are safe here. No worries..."
