So, the other day I entered a formation with someone who was a couple clicks ahead of me. We were both cruising in the same direction when I formed up, and then I noticed that my speed had increased to 420 or so to catch up. I wasn't too concerned since it was Freelancer doing the speed increase and not me, really. But I remembered reading somewhere that the server's anticheat do-dads flag anyone going over 350 as a guard against speed mod. So, I was wondering how this sort of thing is handled by you admins. I'd really hate to be banned for speed mod when all I did was form up with someone... Thanks.

I was wondering this too, a friend formed up with me from a distance and he went up in speed. But I don't think it's anything to worry about, it's the games fault. XD

You cant go higher than 350 in cruise but in formation you can go up to 416 to catch up with the leader. But when you break formation you speed decreases back to 350.
I think the Anti-cheat logs anyone going over 350 in cruise and whos not in formation.

Ive actually sent a list of concerns to some important people on this subject, and ive gotten no reply as of yet, admins are buisy people so im still waiting:). I didnt want to be "public" about it, because it can be scewered into an excuse by people that are actually cheating.

There are MANY ways to bump your speed up on accident, and with the right ship and the right angles of flying you can get over 350. Not sure about 420, but getting above 350 is easy with only the standard game.

And i swear i pushed 440 just the last time i played from flying in formation. Was in a fighter, in cruise, formed on a few other fighters that were a good distance away.

As I understand it, the anticheat checks your speeds in the .ini so it has to do with your constants, not how fast you are currently moving.

Thanks Hood. That quickly cleared everything up. I guess I should have read the pinned threads first. Oh well. See you in space.
