Errm... It seems there's a civil war going on within the SCRA.
From what I could gather, it seems to be something along the lines of this:
Katz has been overthrown by a chap calling himself Volkhan (possibly a portmaneu of Volk for people and Khan which is something Kirk yells. Or king.)
Volkhan is more of a political purist than Katz is, prefering to fight those that don't share his ideology rather than taint the integrity of his beliefs with toleration and alliances of convenience (IE: friendly/neutral relations with the Order and Omicroners under Katz).
Volkhan's takeover involved an armed uprising among a galvanized population, and ended with the escape of a wounded Katz, along with a small contingent of forces still loyal to Katz.
At the moment, Volkhan is beginning hostilities with factions that were previously neutral/ignored/friendly while searching for Katz.
Anything more than that, I couldn't find. If anyone could help fill the rather large gaps, or correct any mistakes, I'd be much obliged!
Currently the Rebels are lead by Lt. Colonel Alla Alesky who made a name of himself thanks to his remarkable persuasive skills who single-handedly gave the Rebels a new base of operations after the Rebels got banished from the Ontario System, much due to the Xeno conflict. The former leading officer, Colonel Rhade, was told to stand down after this incident.
We are currently in heavy cooperation with the Gaians who have given us clearance to dock on one of their bases much thanks to Alesky.
In addition to this, Colonel Razin acts as the Rebels primary adviser with myself acting as Alesky's right hand.
Due to the rather current slow pace of the whole Civil War Role-Play, we have tried to pick it up again by conducting regular skirmishes in the Omega-50 system as well as planning for an event that is basically about rescuing Doctor XiaoBei. This will involve independent player(s), Loyalists, Rebels and perhaps the Colonial Remnants if they wish to participate but that is not certain yet. I have heard some sad news that they won't but I can understand their concerns.
These are the two threads that are of recent business and will give you an insight of what has happened and what is about to happen:
A lot of this is spontaneous Role-Play that isn't planned but based heavily on in-game factors. We run by the notion that the less things that are scripted the more fun it becomes.
