First off I haven't tried it yet but the thing seems brilliant and wonderfully executed and will hopefully make police factions a bit more interesting. Now I do not know how complex it would be to make this suggestion possible, and it is just that a suggestion, as I do not know how exactly the coding for the thing works in the first place, but I am curious if it would be possible to 'tag' players who have IDs that are rep-hacked to be hostile to the police faction currently using the scanner?
Basically what I am picturing is that if a ship that is magically made hostile to the LPI, for instance a Xenos ship, uses the trade lane, the ship message would be say gold instead of green, drawing the officer's attention to the fact that something nasty is jumping around in your lanes.....all other ships, allied, friendly, unfriendly, your BFF Jill and Dusty's mom would show up green as usual in the listing.
It is informative yes, but at least now the police factions have something that the military doesn't, something that is in fact rather cool and nifty....Don't want to be seen by it, don't take the lanes.
The problem is that not taking the lanes makes the game incredibly boring and actually discourages player interaction. Which is the entire point of an RP server.

So won't his suggestion lead to more player interaction?

Then you shouldn't have a problem with the TLAGSNET, as it can create more chances for interaction for a smuggler if the smuggler chooses to use trade lanes and gates. Since he is essentially telling people he is there.
I liked the old way personally mate.... But i guess police do need some help so.... Keep as is and lets see how it goes for a while before making MORE changes
Its excellent and indeed as has been said something that the Police has which the Navy don't. It evens the field in terms of powers. It is actually not easy to track every single person going through Liberty space without practising with the system. Hence, no lackey could really get their head around the people going through Liberty space when its really busy:)
Furthermore yes Smugglers using tradelanes and we knowing where they are makes it much more interesting for RP, but not only that! If Smugglers or certain criminal factions want to go trading contraband, this will encourage them to work together, go in a convoy and head to their destinations as a group.
Anyways, most smart criminals/smugglers/etc even before this hardly used the tradelanes anyway.
