If BMM is informed by the Bretonian Authorities, they can know it. Council ships arrived in Dublin and told about the invasion plans, ingame. IMG called BAF and IAB and they listened to the story. So I guess, Bretonia has heard the Council point of view.
Whether you trust them, is your decision, I'd say.
I would say it's generally not too OORP to trade with Gallia.
As BMM at the moment, it's - I'd say - more difficult because GMS is hostile to you (or at least they told my chars ingame about hostilities in T23 Beryl field) and that could make Bretonia say something like: "No, we won't trade with them".
But *shrugs* I'd roleplay it, ask and see what happens. There can be a lot of cool interaction with the new guys in the north =)
