Question - About roleplay and character usage

So quick question, is it acceptable to create characters with roleplay that do not necessarily exist in-game? Since I have no patience for mining or trading I'm always low on funds.

I want to create new characters and roleplay without going through hours of money laundering.

I have an assortment of flunkies and such that I RP with. My main characters exist in game - but there are others that I use to RP with that don't. Not a big deal.
