I don't really care. I shoot them in front of freeports as I wish and yet sometimes I let them pass peacefully in open space while far from any stations or help.. Depends on my mood and other guy's preformance.

Oh and most propably OSI would be the second ones. Something is nice about them. And I can't describe what in particular.

I have a theory about why OSI have it too easy:

You said it yourself in another thread Gheis that you mostly do RP runs. I think I can safely say 90% of pirates don't sit on the lanes leading to a station that isn't frequented by a lot of traders, and only very profitable runs are. So by the virtue of doing runs that are not all that profitable your chances of actually running into a pirate are very low unless one specifically hunts after you. But considering that you are Zoners, nobody really hates you enough to actively hunt you down.

The closest you came to with that so far was one of my guys seeking you out in Rheinland to see whether you were hauling to Daumann or not. So... for more piracy trade for profit?:P

Mmh, I do realize that the probability of being pirated, per run while RP trading out in the Omicrons, is significantly lower than those who trade for profit. Lately, all I've been doing is RP trading so I've not been pirated too terribly much. I'm pulling from my experiences in crossing paths with pirates, though, not the sum total of my time online. Even when a pirate does catch me, regardless of RP or profit cargo, the rate of piracy is terribly low, and we do move a fair bit of cargo through house space to Ames and Freeport 2 (California Pipeline, anyone?). Used to ship a fair bit through the Omega line between Rheinland and Bretonia, we're very regularly moving through Dublin and Edinburgh, and lately we've picked up a lot of activity in wandering through the Sigmas.

We're a bunch of oddballs, though. I wouldn't expect any other Zoners, independent or otherwise, to stick as much to RP trading as we do, yet it seems that the piracy issue isn't limited to myself or the faction, but the majority of Zoner players regardless of affiliation.

Of course, given the responses from the people in this thread, it seems to be that the reason for leniency or lack of piracy is to an extent the desire to station out of Freeports, but more directly, the fear of losing that ability by upsetting the official factions, which makes me arch an eyebrow. I've always thought of FR5 more as a tool to aid in setting the roleplay environment, not a weapon by which to keep the fear.

I must be old fashioned or something. Or perhaps progressive. I've not been around long enough to be able to tell.

Mal, always go with the love song. Nary a pirate worth his salt can say no to a tune from an aching heart.
