Recently with all the projects I've started I felt a need to start a personal log ' they help a lot when you're analyzing past encounters or just writing down some possibly important information you might forget.
Back to business. I'm glad that the IMG agreed to do a full planetary scan of Forres for me. Although, I guess it's only natural if you offer an outrageous sum. Quoting their report for myself:
Trace amounts of precious metals: Silver, Gold. Trace amounts of Simple Alloys: Mercury, Tin. Small amounts of: Plutonium, Uranium, Indium, Iridium. Moderate amounts of: Lead, Copper, Iron, Mercury, Nickel. Large amounts of: Silicon, Zinc.
Interesting that the planet has a small deposit of Iridium. That could be very useful later on. Other minerals would also be useful if applied properly. I've already thought of a few evil plans'¦ or not, actually. Whatever.
In overall. Stage I, cleared. Stage II: Fighting the global warming that occurred 35 million years ago, if the infocards are correct. Exactly for this purpose alone I've wasted 120 million credits earlier on, when I asked some Freelancers to get some pure cryocubes for me. And they did.
Now here's a small 'trick' I've thought of. Cryocube dispersing. Pros: Effectively lowers the temperature, fairly easy to do once you have the cubes. Cons: More clouds will be formed, and that might lead to some hopefully minor unexpected change.
I'll need help of many people while carrying on my last project: Terraforming of Forres. I'll be writing notes for myself about people I've met.
To start off. Kai Asuka. A freelancer of kusarian origin. Female. Flies a Raven's Talon, armed with rare prototype weaponry of Diamondback class, I think. During my conversations with the pilot I've come to the following conclusion: this freelancer is trustworthy; would make a great courier. She'd be welcome aboard the Dementia anytime.
Nordstrom. A freighter. Pilot's name is unknown to me. Bretonian origin, I think. Asked me about becoming a researcher; directed him to Cambridge and gave other basic instructions. He'll be welcome later on, when the terraforming would be complete. Building plans of the Project.
It's been a while since I last needed to use this log, but this day was pretty eventful.
During the morning I realised the need to pick up fresh scan data from Forres. Luckily, I encountered a Freelancer, piloting a gracious Raven's Talon - A.Harsh.Mistress. Said pilot agreed to help me out for a generous reward.
Trip itself happened to be largely uneventful. Scan results revealed that the atmosphere of Forres can be corrected easier than previously expected. I'll have to deploy special so-called Oxygen Emitters on each of the islands present. However, that doesn't fix the global warming problem.
Not so long ago I've contacted an old friend. Well. Not really an old friend, but I did meet this person earlier. Alan Write, was it? I asked him to deliver kusarian Optical Chips - which are rumored to be the best ones on the market. As well as some other cargo to assemble a thing required for cooling down the planet - a relatively small dispersing lens deep enough in star's corona to keep the pirates and scavengers away, and far enough for it not to melt. Certainly, that requires the best high-temperature alloys there are. I can live with that, I suppose.
Chips have arrived in a few days and they are currently in my stash on Manhattan. I'll try them out later.
Approximately a dozen hours later I found out that the USI were holding a party to celebrate 2 years of their hard work - making raffles, selling wine and various consumer goods, all the good stuff. They happened to attract a fairly large crowd, including me.
I could only describe the following events as "Manhattan's orbit is now a Casino". Seriously. The whole point was this: you buy "tickets", 50.000 credits each, then you might get a prize, depending on your amount of tickets and the amount of other people present. I assume it's done via a random number generator that's present on two thirds of consoles out there. Fun times.
New Dementia's Database Entries. A Harsh Mistress. Freelancer. Female. Does her job nicely. Didn't ask for a name. Reminds me of Kai Asuka, yet less talkative.
[TAZ] - Devil Unicorn. One unusual and highly random Zoner. Has a sense of humor. Her obsession with sex reminds me of famed Evangeline McDowell. Building plans of the Project.
