"Very well Mr. Sherman, I'll believe you for now... although next time you give a demontration please do it on something other than my favourite gun." Vincent cracked his knuckles and leaned back in his chair.
"Now to business. Assuming I believe this 'spore' is real, and I'm not saying I quite do yet, what interest would it have in this corporation?"
Saxon interjected. He leaned forward and continued.
"A cold dead rock in space is no place for a forest. Once it reaches the final stages of terraforming however, it becomes viable.
If the Spore and planetform can work together... Life can be spread on a far greater scale than either is capable of on their own. I suspect that you do not quite grasp the importance of this to us, though to be fair it might not be possible for you to grasp in your present state.
In any case, as Mr. Sherman stated the root mass of the plant creatures constitutes the brain. The larger the forest, the more root mass, the more root mass the greater the mental capacity of the central forest beings. Surely you see the practical reasons for improving one's self, now imagine having a mind that extended over the entire surface of a planet.
We have already seeded Primus, but as you are aware it is far from ideal, growth there is stunted and slow. But on the pristine, calm, temperate worlds prepared by planetform incorporated... The potential is great.
Vincent pondered over that for a moment before leaning forward.
"Well, this whole idea of yours still seem rather far fetched. But for the time being I'll cooperate with you if only because you need me as much as you claim I need you.
"However Mr. Saxon, I require more... proof that what you claim you're able to do is actually the truth." Vincent was silent for a moment before continuing. "California minor has reached the end stages of terraforming and so it should be a suitable... test location in the near future."
"I'd better not be. For both your sakes." Vincent cleared his throat.
"Now all I have to do is figure out how to spin this to the shareholders. Shouldn't be hard. Now you may all return to your duties unless anyone has something else they'd like to say."
