I assume that there will be some kind of restrictions on the prices you can set? Otherwise, what's to stop two players from making bases right next to each other, and having one station offer water for 5 credits and buy oxygen for 5000, then have the other offer oxygen for 5 and buy water for 5000...

Besides that I guess both stations have to import both commodities, what would make this concept useless, I think cannon stated somewhere, that offered goods need to be imported first, making that what you stated less profitable,
All in all I would say, that maintaining most stations will consume money more than getting you income.

Right.
And if you set 5000 for oxygen sell then anyone can unload 5000 cargo and you have to pay 25 mill to him/her. So you have to keep more than that amount to your station.
pf it is not even ready yet and you think how to abuse it..
Well I think the devs will make it not possible to be abused.
