My modem has died I need a new one, anyone have suggestions for a good (some what cheap) DSL modem? Ideally one I can get on amazon cause I have free shipping from them.

I would advice Asus (Asus DSL-N10 for example) or TP Link series. I'm satisfied, since I use both of them at different places and I'm very, very pleased. They work without problem, also they are quite fast... well depends on bandwidth.

I recommend a Router. It must be embarrassing living in the Stone Age.

No seriously, if it broke you mind as well get something better and will last longer.

Routers over modems, more room for future upgrades and built in firewalls if the model comes with it adds another layer of security.
