I didn't know before I started investigating Ktayn's request for a scrap metal price in the LWB guard system that the mining mod has now turned loose Scrap Metal back into general use for trade by creating a new Scrap Metal "ore", so the normal commodity did not receive any update. I'll try to get that done for Update 1. In order to get this done, I'm starting from scratch and removing all existing Scrap Metal locations in Sirius (Gallia will remain as it is, since I did do those).

I've put together a list of all the Junker bases and shipyards in Sirius (excluding Juneau in Alaska and Kusari shipyards). The plan for Scrap Metal is that it will be available for purchase from shipyards and Junker bases and transported to Culebra Shipyard in Puerto Rico for smelting into Manifolds, which Junkers then sell back to shipyards. That will create a price scheme similar to the one for Toxic Waste.

If anyone has suggested changes to this list please let me know.
If any official faction would like their guard system shipyard EXCLUDED, let me know, because they will be included by default (since I expect that would be the most popular option).

Allentown Base
Beaumont Base Texas
Bornholm Depot
Culebra Smelter
Invergordon Space Port
Kreuzberg Depot
Rochester Base
Thunder Bay Depot
Trafalgar Base
Yanagi Depot

Merzig Depot - LWB guard system, requested

Alabama Shipyard
Aland Shipyard
Alster Shipyard
Antikythera Shipyard
Baltimore Shipyard
Cartagena Shipyard
Corsica Outer Sanctum
Duluth Shipyard
Fort Leniex
Foyle Shipyard
Grise Fjord Shipyard
Livadia Shipyard
Norfolk Shipyard
Oder Shipyard
Renzu Shipyards
Rhodes Shipyard
Sabah Shipyard
Singapore Shipyard
Southampton Shipyard
Syros Shipyard
The Nonsense Factory
Tripoli Shipyard
Vieques Shipyard
Wolfsburg Shipyard

The seven bases on the list furthest from Culebra are all guard system shipyards, and their profit margins to Culebra will be much lower than everything else in order to allow Scrap Metal overall to be cheaper to transport.

The way it is set up now there is no reason for scrap to be sold on any bases. We can mine it easy enough in enough places we can come up with all the scrap we need. That's what Junkers do, they collect from the scrap fields and carry it to places where it will be useful. We would not be buying scrap metal from ship yards anyway, because the shipyards buy from us.....especially in places like Omicron Alpha, and Omicron Gamma where they don't have ready access to resources like the other houses do.

We have been able to create decent RP setting up operations to mine and haul scrap. It keeps us amused for hours. I spoke to other Junkers about this as well and there seems to be agreement that scrap doesn't need to be purchased on bases.

Scrap metal should also be bought at factories that produce non-high-tech goods.

An example of what would buy it would be Detroit Munitions as Scrap Metal could be a substitute for Basic Alloys in the construction of Light Arms, whereas Pueblo Station would not buy Scrap Metal because it likely wouldn't be high enough quality for Gate/Lane Parts.

The Hellfire Legion is currently hostile to the Junkers... we won't be selling them much right now. The Legion is also self-sufficient in certain aspects, so we would likely recycle our own waste.

However, we would appreciate some kind of trade routes to/from our bases. Not the point of this thread, so I will contact you directly.

I protest, Dab. Detroit only makes the finest quality guns in Sirius.

However, I agree conceptually - I think some bases should purchase Scrap Metal, not just Junkers. Perhaps one or two locations in each House. For Liberty, the LPI prison stations in Texas come to mind, since the prisoners are often used for cheap labour.

There was a sig here, once.

Scrap would go to smelters first. Dortmund, Pittsburgh, Stokes... and prison stations that use manual labor for the job. The raw materials from the resmelting process would then go to production facilities.

And yea, Military Vehicles sale point at Detroit would be funny.

Smelter in Puerto Rico gives a rather sucky profit, you sure that it's right?

The scrap prices all got dropped big time in the latest update. Things are still in flux.
