1. I know that this is the worst moment to post new ideas cause all the devs/mods are working hard with the new 4.86 version. I'm posting it to not forget the idea that always can be "rescued" in the future if the players/devs/mods thinks that is usefull

2. I have searched for a similar idea but i wasn't able to find it, sorry if this have been posted before

3. Here we go:

In RP, Junkers do not mine but collects/search/find/gather what they can from the space, in general they collect metal from destroyed vessels, alloys from outdated satellites, hull panles from forgoten depots ...etc.
So it could be posible to mine more than one comodity at the same time? Seting a % of possible gathering for each comodity related to the shipyards? Something like this:
For every "unit" gathered the posibility to get one of the following "units"

60% -pieces thah only can be smelted cause they are completly destroyed
60% - Scrap metal

20% -External parts of the ship/satelite/depot that has survived in the sapce
9% - Ship hull panels
5% - Engine components
3% - Basic Alloys
2% - Super alloys
1% - High temperature alloys

20% -Internal parts of the ship/satelite/depot that has survived in the sapce
6% - Robotic components
5% - Optical chips
4% - Nanocapacitators
3% - Optronics
2% - Superconductors
1% - Quantum multiplexors

An mathematical example of a salvager with 3000 untis gathered:
Scrap metal - 1800 units
Ship hull panels - 270 units
Engine components - 150 unit
Basic Alloys - 90 units
Super alloys - 60 units
High temperature alloys - 30 units
Robotic components - 180 units
Optical chips - 150 units
Nanocapacitators - 120 units
Optronics - 90 unis
Superconductors - 60 units
Quantum multiplexors - 30 units

I think that this could improve the junkers rp making aviable the following rp situations:
Mine and sell
Mine until cargo full - Sell comodities a,b,c to trader going to "north", continue mining, sell comodities d,e,f to trader going to "south" ....

Mine, exchange and deliver
Mine until cargo full, exchange comodities with a junker partner, you go to sell to point A, your partner to point B each one with the specific comodities...

Selective miner
Mine until cargo full, drop the cargo isn't worth near, contine mining... repeat the operation until "your character" thinks that is enough and deliver the cargo

Flying scrap man
Mine in point A until cargo full, sell in point A the comodities that have good prices there, go to point B with half of cargo bay full (with those comodities that weren't well payed at point A) continue mining until full, sell some comodities at point B, got to point C ... etc

4. This post is not about quantity (money earned) but about quality (roleplaying) so:
-The percentages can be changed for balancing this was only an example
-The quantity of "units" mined can be balanced too (i don't know if to up or to down, i'm only interesd in the rp fact:P)


5. Finally to make it easier to others to respond :

A. It's Possible?
B. If it's possible, it bould be ncie rp? or you see a rp problem that i have not seen?
C. The percentages/comodities are correct?

A fine idea.

Technically impossible to implement however. Sorry.

Nothing to sorry about, if it is not possible, is not possible.
We can always buy the comodities in the junker bases and rp with it (for example you can always set 2500 cargo space from a salvager to mine and the rest to keep some ship indutry goods)
It was just an idea

Could it be simulated by the mechanics we do know are possible?

You can have more than one commodity in a mining field, could you just set a variety of these zones with different commodities with different drop rates.

They already have. You have normal scrap and premium scrap now. Premium Scrap includes all the stuff Little Roger mentioned. So you can RP it if you want to.

Good, not met the premium scrap yet (RPing my Salvager to comb a total system before moving on, including gettingvthe wrecks, so it is slow) so did not know there were overlapping.
