What can I do with it?

It seems very similar to the Hammerhead in terms of general stats, seems to have about the same amount of armour (7500 - Taiidan, 7900 - Hammerhead), the same weapon mounts (2 lvl8, 4 lvl9, 1 backwards turret, a torp, mine and CM), only two less bats/bots, and is apparently less agile and has a much worse reactor than the Hammerhead.

Now I've flown a Hammerhead and it's not a bad ship in terms of balance of agility and firing power. I may be wrong here but those are my impressions. A Hammerhead with a loadout of four Reavers mk3 could fire for quite long without draining it's energy. Skyblasts B are actually much better than Reavers mk3 in that they are Photon and not Laser (thus better at eating the more popular graviton shields away), and deliver the same damage at a reduced energy cost. Mounting four of them on a Taiidan however (to keep it in GMG roleplay) drains it's energy extremely fast, or is it just me? It might be a bit inferior in this way when you look at it, because it is both less agile and has a worse reactor.

Anyone have any experience with this?

i feel the energy drain fairly quickly when i mount reavers on a hammerhead. - i do agree that the hammerhead is well balanced, but then... its an original vanilla ship.

about why the taiidan ship is worse in certain parts. one reason is that its not a vanilla ship - and so does not share the same weakness. a hammherhead is vulnerable to all blast damage like all other original ships, - while a taiidan fighter takes only little damage from missiles.

all in all - both ships appear to be well suited for jousting and quick hit-and-run operations. they do not have the energy to do constant damage. - actually, i had quite some problems fighting middle-class transports ( like borderworld, percheron etc ) in a hammerhead alone, cause the energy wouldn t allow to do enough damage. ( in that case i had the very same equipment like the NPC BHGs, a mixture of buckshots and reavers - no delibitators )

i think the hammerhead is among the best balanced ships ( don t know about the manta, never had one ) - it feels like you d expect a VHF of the first generation should feel like. - funnily enough its worse in all stats compared to the blood dragon, which is classified as a heavy fighter.

Taiidan HF is really good. I disagree with Jinx about Jousting in it.. It's a suicide to do that.
You wouldn't be using it's agility that way, which is it's biggest advantage.

I think of HF's as of bigger LF's with more power. Taiidan HF is very capable to stay on most target's tail.
I mounted 2 Skyblasts B and 2 Skyblasts A, and 2 improved debilitators.
That loadout works perfectly for my Taiidan.
It's much more important to be able to shoot it more often [thus annoying/shaking your target].
Skyblasts A are also much more efficient then B's.

Just a tip!
