One big question the idea raises to me is would the Houses allow such connections to go unchecked? All of them have some major issues with crime, so would they let such networks be to let the criminal elements (among others) do whatever? This seems particularly true with Yukon and Kansas connecting anything as they are adjacent to systems undergoing major buildups (Alberta and Virginia). Quebec/New Hampshire also seem they may attract a lot of military attention.

That being said, Hudson-Humboldt-Kansas-Magellan doesn't seem too far off 4.85's passage in that area. And I do like systems having more connections, assuming there is adequate logic involved ( which is unfortunately Disco's traditional archnemesis).

Houses are free to patrol those connections if they feel like having them checked.

Always a good plan! My (albeit scattered) thoughts were more that just adding connections without changing anything else doesn't quite work. The factions of the areas should react to there being connections: if they are new, to establish patrols, etc, and if they have always been there (ie retconning it in), having a presence relative to the connections

Two questions here really. First is if the systems would become ZOI, which determines where you can do things like demand contraband. None of the proposed holes connect to house space, so none of the connected systems would have their ZOI status changed.

Second question is if you could go there. Rules allow anybody to go anywhere at any time unless ID imposes additional restrictions, the rest of it is RP. Nobody owns the independent space in-RP so nobody can stop you from taking a fleet there if you want. Rheinland could launch a flanking attack on Colorado by running an attack fleet up the eastern systems. If a Liberty fleet saw them and chose to intercept they could do that too. Nobody owns those systems.

yes they could patrol and report on activity, but they couldn't interdict smugglers or pirates since they would be outside their ZOI
