Hi there.

I am a big fan of the little freighters.
I own a Corsair Correo and think its a shame I never get to use it.

Can I ask for an RP option to reequip my Correo as a Fleet support vehicle?

I'm thinking give me, and other small vessel pilots like me, an option to carry spare nanos and shields... enough to restock a Dreadnought one time.

This is the equivalent of a medic in other RP scenarios, and gives a new definition to Supporting roleplay.

It would also drastically change and, I feel, solidly improve the strategies used in naval engagements.

Suddenly fighters have a strategic target, and fleets need to reconsider their priorities.

Take out the cap ship .. or go for the medic? What should a bomber do?
Where is the fighter support?

Especially if my Correo could automatically transfer the bots and nanos to the cap ship if it comes in range of say 100 yards: A risky business that requires exceptional piloting skills. I'm sure this is a mechanism that could be implemented in a similar fashion to mining...

Perhaps this should require a special beaming turret, or a modified cargo hold?

That little freighter is going to be tugging back and forth to resupply the fleet under heavy fire, and suddenly there is a whole new world of game-play possibilities for us..

Comments? What do you guys think?

What makes it different from the Repair Ship?

In space, nobody knows I'm a panda

There's already a ship with a huge amount of regens... It's called the Repair Ship.

Agreed, but I think theres a reason its underused: It's too much of a specialist one-time tool, and is a totally passive tool in a conflict.

(Even warcraft clerics have a chance to stand up for themselves).

I was thinking that offering a conversion option for freighters gives a little bit of variation for small freighter pilots so that they could double as repair ships whilst still being kinda useful as a defense platform..

Small freighters get severely underused because users ramp up to the big transports with other chars as soon as they can afford it.. which is a shame cos frankly my Correo is the Ford minivan of corsair space: There should be a lot more in the skies.

With less armor, and their own set of guns their roles would have to be a little more hybrid in the conflict zone.... It also has a chance in a dogfight if it was intercepted by a fighter on its way to restock.

Just my 2 cents. thanks for the feedback.

Rmorph.

Freighters are just as useful as transports, and are often more competent combat wise, freighters also outrun almost every ship in the game save for light fighters. Their shields are also double to triple VHF strength and have triple fighter power capacity, you can load up your Correo with tizzies and help kill gunboats.

Repair ships are pigeonholed because well... a ship with that many regenerations and combat capabilities would make people Q_Q

Even then, repair ships are hard to kill...they can be good at harrassing people and even pirating if you can manage it with it's 3 guns.

If you do really want to act as a helper in these combat situations though, buy a mine launcher that is not a nuke, and a CM that is not the enhanced CM... then buy the ammo for those, and buy some hellfire ammo and nova ammo and maybe cannonball ammo.... you can resupply your teammate's weapons instead of their regenerations.
