Commodore Ashers is quite correct. I don't care about the scanner law, I care about the far more severe one you violated. Namely, extortion and obstruction of justice. Sending the uncensored evidence would handle the second charge. As for the extortion, while generally we would use a much harsher punishment, I've thought of a solution that I hope you'll appreciate the irony of. You'll pay a fine of five million credits. Fulfill those two obligations and the charges will be dropped.

So let me get this striaght, I am being charged with:

1: Obstruction of justice for not sending in an uncensored report? Well I see no law saying I MUST report any criminal activity I see, this is still a free house is it not? I have the right to remain silent? If I am wrong please quote me the law from the Bretonian Charter of Intersteller Law.

and;


2: Extortion, for trying to get money from the pictures used by the cargo scanner, which is specifically stated to bear a fine of 50 credits, not 5 mill. This "crime" is completely covered by the "scanner law" and I dont think it's allowed to slap a different charge on me for something already covered by the scanner law, but I'm no Lawyer, so I'll just go with the fact that theres no "extortion" law for what I did, again, If I'm wrong, quote me.

I do not believe even a Baron is allowed to simply disregard laws, buy saying "I dont care about the scanner law" invent new ones, and apply different fines on a whim, so you only have the legal right to charge me 50 credits.
