Weeks had passed, weeks she had to spend out there, weeks without even to see a ship with people aboard. Slightly shaking her head the young woman looked on the signs and patches on her flight suit. 'Sonya Mosby' was written on the One, 'Secretary of Internal Affairs' said another. Although the emblems were not as shiny and clean as they have been when she started her flight, but out here it was the only thing to remember where she came from. "How does it look today," she said to the computer. "Have you finally found star by which you can navigate?" Knowing that she would not receive a response to the question she began to enter it manually, expecting the usual 'negative' as output to the monitor. But instead of getting an answer the screen changed to radar with a pulsing 'Collision Alert' in huge bold letters at the top. 'Where the hell did that came from?' Within seconds Sonya flipped a couple of switches and pulled the flight stick to get change her course. During evasive maneuver a large object appeared right in her path, something that large it blacked out the sun for a moment.
The repetitive and tinny "Collision is imminent' by the computers voice echoed through the life pod as it started to change his course. 'Wait, that shape looks really familiar,' was hammering in Sonyas thoughts as that object reduced its distance to her.
Weeks before two of those things brought here in this situation, the first one hit the Artemis ' a gunboat she was in charge of for a mission ' that second one pulled her life pod in some unknown space phenomenon that brought her in this distant and unknown part of Sirius, the galaxy or maybe even some parallel universe.
'If those things brought me here maybe they can bring me back to known space?'
After all her options where minimized to plain two choices. Either she would stay in this unknown part of whatever and probably that would be her end as soon as the pod malfunctioned or her supplies went down or the died by trying to get back to known space.
The decision was made within seconds, she wanted to get back to Sirius even if that phenomenon would spit her life pod right in the chancellors private mansion in Rheinland, she had to take the chance.
"Computer, based on database entries try to recur the situation that brought us out here and lay in a course to follow this object as soon as it has passed us.'
The turning of the capsule and the simple 'Affirmative' from the computers voice it was sure that her dangerous attempt had begun. Seconds felt like minutes, minutes like hours but finally that unknown object passed the life pod and the exhaust gases hit Sonyas shelter in space.
What she knew was that those gases reacting to the pods shields created that phenomenon that brought her out here and with luck, this time she would end somewhere in charted space from Sirius. It took some seconds but than the strange phenomenon appeared again and started pulling the capsule inside. Directly after it entered that 'tunnel' the pod started to rotate like it has done before and within a minute the forces were so strong that the woman inside fainted even after her elite flight training she had in Liberty.
As she regained consciousness a bright light hit her eyes and Sonya couldn't see anything. Blinking her view fell to the computer screen right in front of her. It showed geographic information, atmospheric read outs and ' that was the most interesting part about it ' human life forms which were closing in on her position.
'Looks like who ever this is already knows that I'm here.'
It took her a while to unbuckle herself from the seat but after a couple of minutes she was free. After that the woman grabbed the survival bag pack and programmed the computer for self destruct. Nobody should be allowed to see the data her life pod gathered while she was out in the unknown.
The last step before exiting the vessel was to blow out the hatch. Even if the strangers coming her war already seemed to know somebody was here with the sound of the explosion nearly everybody on this planet would be informed now, there was a visitor on the planet.
Luckily for Sonya her pod crashed in a large forest and so there was enough cover for her to put some distance between her and the capsule. Outside she could breath fresh air and was able to smell a lot of different aromas from the woods, the plants, the moss.
For a few seconds she looked at the pod right next to her, it really was badly damaged from the flight but it kept her alive. During that moment she got kind of sentimental because that ship saved her life but now she had to kill it.
The buzzing sound of the reactor on overload reminded her to get away from the pod right now and so she began to run deeper in the forest. After Sonya put 200 meters distance between her and the ship the explosion caught her and pushed her down on the ground.
"Right over there,' a voice was yelling. "Seems like what ever crashed here exploded after the re-entry.' In the same moment a group of men dressed in all black walked by her position within a couple of steps and the LSF agent laying ground immediately knew where she was.
'The Order' was slamming in her head. 'Why does it have to be a planet of the Order?'
