Well actually the question is clear enough .
I'm type of pilot who go around with more than 4 codes . last time a guy just appeared ( same ID-IFF as me ) and shot chaostically at me without warning . i wasnt dead but suffered heave damage so i decided to flee . later i asked and figured out that the guy want my codes . he did the same the following day BUT i'm not dead yet so I can't report him . any advices ?

Every attack has to have some form of RP beforehand.

Your ID must permit it as well. You can't just attack someone purely because he has codes in cargo.

If he had the same ID as you and it's not a generic ID (freelancer or pirate), then he can't attack you.

He most definitely cannot just up and attack you for having codes.

I had such situation quite often, too.
(Not when code hunting.)

More when flying around with my private armory.
People found it funny to attack me without warnings.

But you can file a report without getting shot aswell.
(I never did it though.)
