Get outta my head. You're freaking me out.
Just gotta say though, I picked up a copy of flstudio & it's an effin' blast! (Thanks for the lead Chev!) I glanced at a few tutorials but quickly went, "Meh! Later." & I forest gumped my way around like a kid in a candy store for a few hours last night & came up with a basic hook already.
All I have'ta do now is learn what the hell I'm doin'
As long as I don't learn what can't be done, I should be just fine.

No problem. My friend made some soundtracks for films with it. They actually can sound like orchestra or live bands if plug-ins are used properly. Hope to hear your stuff soon.
Having been producing&remixing for a year+ in FL Studio, and I gotta say it's pretty intuitive. If you've time to spend for acquaintance with interface and stuff.
When I tried Cubase... Eh, that's a story that ended after 10 minutes.
It's a pretty awesome feeling that you can do your own stuff, combine, extend. Generally. Just be sure to pick proper VSTs.

Yeah it is:yahoo:
The learning curve is gonna take a while, but after snorfelling around with it so far, I feel kinda facepalmy that I didn't pick this hobby up years ago...Doh!
I'd love to do a live sound. A while back I was having fun coming up with a backstory for a Gaian rock band called the "Gaian Death Cult" & made a handful of album covers. I figure it would be cool to actually add a song to the concept.
Without getting too ahead of myself, live-type plugins...hell yeah man. I need to know those:cool:
I used two recording software's: Nuendo 4 and Cubase 5.
They both look the same and have same structure but Cubase is considered better in the last few years.
As much as i know,Cubase 5 cost something about 600$.
However there are some things you need to know about them:
1- you won't be able to use them without some serious instruction from someone who know them cause there a hundred of small buttons to press and if you miss one it won't work:)...i spend many angry hours like that...it's my advice to write all instructions down somewhere and read while you trying to record. With good instructor you'll need at least a week before you'll be able to record by yourself.
2-You'll need all the plug-in discs for recording, guitar, drum, base and keyboard...and not just anyone if you won't to do it right.
Cubase have Hallione in it,it's a keyboard set of plugins and it's not bad at all.
I used Guitar rig for guitars, full disc with guitar plugins and it's also very expensive,i think well over 600$.
For drums i used Easy drummer-set of drum plugins, specially "drum-kit from hell"(published by Meshuggah drummer, don't know the name),i forgot name of bass plugins as well sorry for that :)It's not cheap either...
This are professional software, basically 90% of all studios use them, specially Cubase but they are user-friendly enough for home studios and stuff...
...this are some examples how Nuendo work's in home-made-studio,this is 4 years old.
This a different variations of mixing and mastering while using same recording set-up,of course sound is much better if you use amp for guitar instead plug-in,same goes for bass guitar.
Now,if you come to Serbia you can have all this nice things for free, cause that's how much it cost here:)
Since you got your host program figured out so I won't beat that dead horse. FL Studio is a very capable music making tool so you should be set there.
If you're going for a 'live' sound then I will tell you right now that trying to jam on a computer keyboard gets old pretty fast. You might wanna consider a midi controller, which is just a piece of hardware typically resembling a musical instrument, that you hook up to your computer and play the notes through it. Midi keyboards are the most common but you can also find midi guitars and drums and stuff - hell, even the guitars from the Rock Band game will double as midi controllers. Obviously with hardware, you'd have to drop some money so it's really a question of how much do you want to spend on a hobby. Here's a couple recommendations for some affordable gear:
I think it makes a big difference when you're playing an instrument as opposed to hammering the computer keys or drawing notes with a mouse. Of course I'm sure that some people in this thread get by with just keyboad and mouse, but I dunno, it just doesn't feel musical to me.
