Yeah all the guy did was say "HALT". But to be fair to him I said "No way" and tried to run for it. He disabled my cruise drive and then blew me to pieces within a couple seconds. Later I read that I should try and negotiate with a pirate and see if he will let me pass for a fee rather than get blown up and loose my cargo. So I guess we were both at fault. Him for not saying anything more than "HALT" and me for running instead of talking with him. Currently running around in a Dromedary with a Privateer ID. Tried getting a Universal Shipping ID but because of the Dromedary it cut me down to like 10% power. Next ship I get will be either a civilian or a Liberty class so I can use the Universal Shipping ID without so much of a penalty.
There is a list somewhere on forums which shows you what ID can equip what and for what penalty, I am not exactly sure where it is, but somewhere at the help section if I am not mistaken, as for the pirate, if he tells you to stop, and you don't, well, it's your fault he blows you to pieces, it is indeed best to negotiate with them, as I said, you'll likely encounter many idiots who only want your blue message and don't give a flying bag of rice for RP, that is NOT how they are supposed to RP their character, but if you won't stop when asked to, then that "halt" will usually be the only thing you'll get from them, personally I give traders three chances, first one when I order them to stop, second when if they don't stop, I let em know I'll shoot em, and third, when I shoot em, if they still don't cooperate even after I scratched their hull, it's their problem for getting sprayed, but most won't bother like that, they'll be short: stop or poof, so it's best to stop when asked, but don't be scarred, most veteran pirates, at least the guys I know are very friendly, even if they may look a bit scary in begin, so you keep your head cool and you may enjoy it, it's just the lolwuts are going pirate to get blue msg's and killing the fun for all, but luckily they are very frowned upon and not every pirate is like that, same goes for the lawfuls too.
