hello all

i want ask something about PVP fleeing.

rule says:

Quote:5.6 If a player engages cruise engine or docks during a PvP fight, this player is considered fleeing. The fleeing player must leave and may not re-enter the system where the fight took place with any of the characters on his/her account(s) while the enemy (player or players involved in the fight) remains in the system, but no more than 4 hours.

but what happens if the fleeing ship get his cruise removed by a CRUISE DISRUPTOR?? The fight continues or he have the right to go?

if you try to flee a fight with cruise engines, the other side of the fight (your enemies) have every right to disrupt your engines and chase you. They dont have to stop trying to kill you.

I'll put it out there. If you did not engage. That is to say you are just trying to get the heck out of there. No aggressive moves on your part, then I'd say that the PVP never took place. So no it doesn't apply. A good example of that would be traders. Most times their only defense is to get the heck out of Dodge. This does not constitute fleeing from a fight. The Whole idea, as I understand it, is that once you have engaged, actively trying to shoot the other player, THEN you are in combat... and to hit cruise and leave would be fleeing or conceeding to the other combatant, knocking over your king or what have you. I don't believe that you would be considered breaking the rules of engagement when you are trying to avoid said engagement by hitting cruise.

My thoughts anyway...

Have fun!

If you engaged your cruise engines, they are allowed to chase you. You cannot re-engage them unless they disrupt your cruise (that's my understanding of the rule). They have every right to chase you using cruise.

If you are in a battle and decide it's not going well for xyz reason and you need to get away here is what can happen.

if your cruise is disrupted you can; A) Engage, B) Run.

If you are in cruise and someone chases after you in cruise you can; A) Engage, B) Run.

If you hop into a trade lane and someone chases after you you can; A) Engage, B) Run.

If you hop into a JumpGate/Hole and your attacker follows you can; A) Engage, B) Run.

If you dock the attacker has to let you leave the system.

And I am under the impression (told repeatedly) that so long as half your shields or greater don't go down and you don't fire back it isn't an official 'fight' and fleeing under that circumstance wouldn't be 'fleeing from a battle'.

Is this correct? (or one of those things that I have had wrong all along 'cause it was changed in the forum aeon's ago?)

Yes some one can chase you when you try to flee and has every right to hunt you down till the end of there ZOI unless like mwerte said you dock on a friendly base the player has to let you leave.... but that brings up another question can that player chase you to the next system or is that player considered dead to you at that point and is not allowed to engage you for 4 hours and vice versa?

Where does it say that if one person attacks another then its a PVP Fight. Bringing a persons shields below half is considered an "Attack" according to the rules. But it doesn't state that an attack is a fight. A fight is when you have multiple people attacking each other, not when one person shoots at another person. As a fight isn't one person attacking another person but both people attacking each other i fail to see how anyone can claim that the fleeing rule applys when only one person has attacked another. Fleeing rule is most likley to have been written so that you can't just fight someone(Both people shooting at each other) then when the battle is going bad for you cruise away, repair then have another go, not so that one person with a cruiser can shoot a person in a VHF/whatever with a single shot and there then forced to fight that cruiser(Which they have no hope in hell of destroying, aka Suicide run, which wouldn't be most peoples RP) or leave the system for 4 hours.

From various sanctions and previous discussions, yes, if you are "attacked" then you are in a fight. Bring the point to Igiss for clarification, but its the way its interpreted, and not firing back allowing them to pass on their merry way brings in about as many problems as the three-deaths rule did.

CD = attack for rules purposes, although if you are CD'd to scan for contraband and they let you go nobody will report you for re-engaging if you don't leave system.
