I set up a little LAN Server for Discovery Freelancer, but as we are just a few people playing only PvE I was wondering if I could edit the IDs of the game?

Like right now I got the message that my Power Generator has been reduced to 5x% because I'm using incompatible equipment. I'd like to allow everything for People with the Freelancer ID, so we don't have to worry about that.

Second, and I know that this is highly unlikely, I'd like to stop AI controlled ships from using Nanobots and Shield Batteries, because I really dislike the idea of npc characters using healthpots.

Are such changes possible? If so, how? I haven't found a solution or even a direction so far Sad

1. In your EXE folder you will find another folder called flhook_plugins. Double click that folder to open it. Find techcompat.ini or techcompat.cfg. Rename it to techcompat. bak. (this will backup the file saving your original). Next open the file called techcompat.ini or techcompat.cfg.

Set the following items to the value indicated, if they aren't already

unlisted_tech = 1.0
default_mult = 1.0
no_control_item = 1.0

Next delete everything below ;---------------------Faction Section------------------------

Save the file. If the server is already running, restart it. You're done.

2. No way I know of to stop NPC's using Bats and Bots. Don't know why they wouldn't anyway. Some people seem to get so upset when players or NPC's use those things and I never have understood why. They were put in the game for a reason. And in PvP, it might actually extend the fight. More funBig Grin

Thank you very much!

About the Bats and Bots:
I don't mind them in PvP, but in PvE I can't help but think about Diablo 2, you have the Lord of Hell down to 5% hp and suddenly he uses a health potion. . . Because why not? Potions are part of the world, everybody sells and carries them, they just don't ever use them.
In D2 this whould cause a lot of frustruation, and for me it's the same in Freelancer. They are after all nothing but potions.

But I guess I can live with that Wink
