How do I get Discovery to work on Ubuntu 12.04? Help a n00b!

So, gentlemen and gentlewomen.

I've never been a nifty person with programming and understanding codes, tho I've always been a gamer. Now I've just completed the main story of Freelancer, got to level 30, got the ship in Omicron Theta + lvl 10 weapons etc. But I want more! I've read a deal about the Discovery mod and it seems wonderful, but I just simply can't get it to work.

But, to biznizz.

I'm currently running Ubuntu 12.04 and Freelancer Ver 1.0.

I want to get the discovery mod to work, but do not know how I can make this happen.
I've got playonlinux and wine. No dual-boting windows or emulator.

Please Freelancers, you're my only hope.

Yeah... I'd come here if the problem was just hitting the install-button.
When I install the Discovery mod I don't get the file "Freelancer Discovery", just got the ordinary "Freelancer"-file.
So no, you're just ordinary!

Now I'm on yet another clean installation of FL with the mod downloaded but... guess I'll do some more searching.

Just try launching on Wine.
Before, type in console:
winetricks d3dx9 dplay
(or directplay, don't remember)...
I couldn't get multiplayer to work tho. ;C SP works fine and smooth.
