Do not post.

The original one got deleted and I can only surmise it was done to save a few kilobytes. (That, and it probably was forgotten.)

I avoided remaking this because I thought it was not needed. However, as I traverse the forums once more I come across little gems which need to be shared, or perhaps some other things that need to be put in a list to realise where exactly they fit in. (Amongst other things.)

This page will serve as a contents page as time goes on. If there is a better forum for this, like General Discussions, feel free to move it.

Anything I say is not intended as offensive, and to try and deliberately misinterpret it as such would be an attempt at trolling via misrepresentation.

It's not a conspiracy, it's localised bias. They're not intelligent enough to form a conspiracy.

I think there is no way anyone could have Tizona del cids on a sabre and be role playing.

I think trial by forums is when someone describes an incident, asks for clarification from an admin, and specifically leaves names out.

I don't know the difference between a character and a player.

I think all of my characters have access to the same information.

I think its OK to transfer hundreds of millions of credits from a trader character to a bounty hunter character to buy my iny battlecruiser.

I look at other peoples post count and judge them by it.

I flame Akumabito regularly because everything he says is a personal vendetta against the admins, and its ok to have a personal vendetta against him, but to do so against an admin is just terrible.

and the most important one:

I cry about capwhores all day but dont have 2 other in game friends that could form a bomber wing with me and role play it out in game.

Thank you for your support ladies and gentlemen.

Just a recap of these threads till now.

Lead by example and maybe the situation will improve.

* Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day. Teach a man how to fish and he'll take over the economy and make a monopoly on Tuna exports. - Hyung Soong.

* RP should be enjoyable for everybody, yes? - Epyon the Bored.

* That "take my orders or else" mentality that we see from 14 year old clan leaders won't go away. If cap ships are removed we'll see "who gave you permission to fly that Stiletto?" - Akumabito.

* Why should any player have to measure up to another players RP meter for the right to fly these pixels? - ScornStar.

* People are fallible and corruptible. - Gronath.

* You are in Tau 29 and full of plutonium. I am guessing that you have no problem now. - Xoria.

* The only thing I have to say to all of this is that no one really pays any attention to the 101st in game anymore anyways. - Varyag.

* Perhaps you could just call it a semantic minefield. I prefer to think of it as vain speculation. But then again, when you reject the concept of a supernatural creator as a foundational premise, vain speculation is the only thing you have left. That, and Freelancer. - Xoria.

* Making these sort of decisions at 02:42 AM on a Saterday morning reminds me of the time I thought it would be a good idea to bang my girlfriends sister.. I.e think twice Big Grin - Spear.

* FREELANCER - Shigeo Kitamura - Hogosha.

* How dare anyone RP a way out of their OORP PVP Whoring! - Akumabito.

* There are no Capwhores. Capwhores are a bedtime story told to naughty fighter and bomber pilots by their mothers who want them to conserve H fuel. - Laowai.

* Stop making ignorant, "let's be friends" statements. Not everyone who comes here is welcome. - Asymptotic.

* We're not the 101st, damn it, we don't do that crap. - Zavier.

* Because why on earth would the Outcast military send a massive, extremely expensive piece of hardware down on a long, extended assignment with very long supply lines with no clear purpose? - Epyon the Bored.

* Whether the admins are biased or not is irrelevant. - Praetyre.

* The world needs less guns and more porn. - Tenacity.

* Everything is flexible when its fiction we're dealing with. - JihadJoe.

* Most of the server population here is made of people who can't let their Ego withstand a defeat or an offense. - kingvaillant.

* I also detest the casual rudeness displayed by some of the so called respectable elite here. - Taffic.

* It isn't our job to police the server - bluntpencil2001.

* I'm not going to voluntarily subject myself to flames to satisfy a Roleplay requirement; I shouldn't have to, and neither should anybody else. The only people I answer to are the Admins. - Epyon the Bored.

* If you want to help people rp, help everyone rp and don't support pvp whoring as a method for server control. - Akumabito.

* trying to mold everyone under your own model of roleplay is somewhat lame. - Xing.

* Add to that the examples of individuals who enforce the 'RP Only' rule to extreme levels, which is just as bad. These individuals end up reducing themselves to the exact same level as the 'PVP-whoring noob killers', because they refuse to be open minded about new players, those new players' education in regards to Discovery RP, and their effect on the growth of the RP system as a whole. - Lovecraft.

* The server cant handle excessive amounts of roflz and lolwutting. - Tenacity.

* GOT A PROBLEM WITH SOMETHING IN_GAME, TAKE IT TO THE FOURMS- THATS WHAT THEY ARE FOR!! - Zelot.

* Big egos don't run factions well. - Epyon the Bored.

* And this isn't about having sex with Dboy, it's about whether he is mature enough to be a fair moderator. - Akumabito.

* Opinions that disagree with you are not trolling, eppy. - Akumabito.

* There has never been a SINGLE server in public existence that has forced people to join "official factions" and been succesful and long lived--not ONE. Ever...not now or in the past. Do the math. - Tinkerbell.

* Its not my server--its for everyone--past, present and future. If you want to see the consistent model for the death of a server its two things: when they are held together by a few factions who leave and they lose their numbers or when they are controlled by a few factions and don't get new numbers. - The Company.

* It won't change until they've run this server into the ground like the factions did at Asgard, and they they will sit on the empty server and blame the indies for it. - Akumabito.

* If you don't want to discuss it that is fine, but please don't insist on spamming this topic every time it comes up. - Akumabito.

* When faction role play is inclusive, friendly, satisfying, appealing, fun and rewarding, independents will not have to be criticized for being a majority--they will join because it looks good. No one will have to coerce them in. - Tinkerbell.

* We cannot make a decision based solely on someone's word alone, even if that member is an Admin. - Reverend Del.

* For God's sake, would you please keep your hypocritical (hypocrisy bolded) squabbles out of somebody else's (by which I mean my) RP Request Thread? - Epyon the Bored.

* Morgan you are not in charge, get used to it. If you had been so in touch with the community of Outcast players why were there so many complaints regarding your conduct? You aren't amazing Morgan, stop acting like you are. - Turkish.

* Just because you disagree doesn't mean you are correct on the subject. - Blodo.

* Usually post count indicates maturity and age within a community. - Turkish.

* I'm thinking we need a 'Goodbye' forum to go along with the Welcome forum. I think it might get more activity. - Drake.

* People that take this game too seriously, get a life. - Rudo.

* The first post is whining about whining. This post is whining about whining about whining. A reply to this post will be whining about whining about whining about whining. - Kurosora.

* Funny that all other pointless 'one word post' threads get locked quickly and this one doesn't, eh? - Thor22.

* You can NOT compare NPC's with real people, you just cant. - Camtheman Of Freelancer4Ever.

* If we all conform to the same type of Rp it will get really boring really fast--no matter how "right" we think it is. - Tinkerbell.

Zoner Capital Ships:

Guess what? This is not another Zonerzonerzoner post. Idiots will not know this, so we will preface with that to inform them.

I decided to think, and so I wondered. What did I wonder about? Zoner capital ships. You probably wondered about them too.

Recently, people who understand how to press the right click button of the mouse and hold it down for several seconds proposed that Zoners should not have capital ships. (It seems that Supernovas and Novas are too much of an imaginary fiscal expense in their lovely lives, which leads us to question how they have enough time to post on the forums, as opposed to do a few trade runs in this brilliant economy with ore.)

The arguments proposed were that Zoners did not have the resources, namely the credits or materials to produce capital ships. Another one proposed was that the time between Zoners having capital ships and not having them was too short. All other arguments proposed were the usual dribble of bias and so on. (If there are any others, please PM or Skype me and I will modify this post to include a counter for them.)

So, I looked forth from the bridge of my Rheinland Cruiser and it hit me. How did this ship get produced? Was Rheinland not on the brink of material ruin? Finance depleted, leader killed and all resources drained? In 17 years they got money, resources and a "leader". Amazing. How did they do so?

I do not truly know, but Rheinland is kind of fun the way it is now, ja?

I decided to move to the Omicrons and I got scared; mainly by the Outcasts, which are infinitely better than the Corsairs, and their collective, gargantuan amount of capital ships. The Outcasts and Corsairs both pirate, both trade, one in Cardamine and one in artifacts, and apart from that, one has food problems and the other has sex problems. Seventeen years ago the Sabre and Titan were the magnum opus in Sirius ship-building for these pirate factions. That was it. The end of the line.

I shrugged it off. They are fun. The Corsair capitals have horns and the OC Destroyer smiled at me, so I thought the whole thing was swell and I moved on.

I turned my head to the left and behold The Order came into sight, but barely, for they are a shadowy clandestine organisation. A clandestine organisation only recently formed with a full loadout of ships, including capital ships. I thought about it and I figure their agents covertly extracted funds out of whatever organisation they infiltrated, and that their former alliance with the Corsairs, another faction who also magically formed capitals, paid off well. That or their research allowed them to make a lot of ships quickly. Or certain alliances The Order made funded them quite well.

The quick flow of thoughts made me push it all away and concentrate on the issue at hand.

I squinted and looked at the Zoners. Centuries of trading. Endless and expensive resources in the edgeworlds area that they inhibit. No known intelligent enemies to hinder their growth. Roleplay which consists heavily of trading. An alliance with The Order and hence resources to higher order technology. An alliance with the GMG which results in lower fuel prices.

So, now I sat atop Tekagi's Arch, which was magically fixed after the explosion which would have taken out most of the interior, the expected raids by Blood Dragons and bombardment by the Kusari Naval Forces, and repopulated by Aoi Isejin which managed to sneak past the two aforementioned factions, as well as the GMG and agents of The Order.

While I was atop this Arch I reflected on why this was, that is, why certain factions have capital ships. I guess it is because capital ships make the game fun without altering too much, especially since they can easily be taken down by two or three bombers.

I also figure for those who are inclined to depress and hold the right-click button of the mouse, since other actions are a tad to complex for them, they need something else. That is something new to see and unleash the fury. I propose that the Whale and other 5k's got boring after a while and they wanted something new. After all, when all you have is the mouse, you need to see something new on the screen no?

Did Akumabito win?

He was banned. Disliked by most. Rocked the boat and stepped on people's sensitive toes. After being banned, people added him to a Skype chat purely to add insult to injury. As I recall, one of them later became a moderator. A stunning and shining example for all to follow. Beat down the minority who can't defend themselves and be rewarded. Of course, people still talk about him in a negative light where he cannot post to defend himself, but I doubt they would know how to open up the dictionary to cowardice. So let's examine the main points which he raised and raised the ire of the community:

* Factions shooting independents: Let's start with the context of 2008 in server life. Most reading this will not remember these times. It was when official factions would shoot down independent capital ships of the same faction, simply for being independent and not part of the official faction. It was to uphold RP standards and whatever else elitist excuse they needed. A lot of it functioned around cronyism and knowing the right people when buying, so as not to get shot down. The administration had no problem with it. Akumabito challenged the status quo, arguing this was not the way to go. Eventually, as intelligence came to be a valued trait, an Administration edict was posted which prevented this practice. Thus, Akumabito won point one.

* Specific Zones of Influence: Ever wonder where ZoI came up as a term? It was when an incident occurred around Sigma 13 involving Akumabito and another battleship that went there to shoot him down. A player grudge. The battleships had no reason for going there, but it did and no objections were raised. Akumabito argued that in RP, the ship would not be found so far out of it's zone of influence. The argument failed then, but now, every faction adheres to a ZoI. Thus, Akumabito's legacy laid down another pillar.

* Special RP Requests: I stole it was the best excuse ever. It allowed Outcast Kusari Destroyers back when the Hatchet was so OP that it could raze entire factions single-handedly. Add Bretonian battleships to that list too. Because stolen. How did it not get sanctioned for not having a proper ID and ship combination? I struggle to explain this, but it just didn't. Forum RP was written, "veterans" agreed it was good RP and there was no oversight. Akumabito was shot down for suggesting that this was an elitist and system prone to cronyism. Of course, yet again, time would solidify this idea of an oversight needed for special RP as a part of Discovery.

*Op faqt. (This will be filled in later.)

He was banned, but his ideas have penetrated the core of this server. They've outlived the people who taunted him in-game and on the forums to try and break him. And while he probably hasn't thought of this place since then, and those who remember him only remember a "troll", he's won.

Locking Zoner threads won't hide the issue.

But how did Rheinland find resources for capital ships?

Because forming a non-aggression pact with aliens out to destroy humans is both plausible and good RP.
