sometimes you come back alive. other times your ship explodes in hostile territory, you become a pow and your house builds a new ship exactly the same as yours and puts crew in your ship that are secret government clones that look and sound exaclty like your crew to hide the fact that they just loss several battleships so as not to affect moral and "the war effort". Your crew are working as cheap pow clone slave labor, meanwhile there's some imposter crew flying around in an imposter ship, pewing YOUR enemies and earning YOUR salary. that's why you don't get paid for raids.
