So as you can see, I'm pretty new around here and this is only my second post besides the welcome thread introduction. I just saved up and bought myself a snazzy new Tridente gunship, which I have some questions about.
First, as an Outcast (or any faction really), is defending your faction's NPC's a valid reason to engage another player? For example, I ran across a guy blowing up Outcast Large Space Stations in Tau-23. Could I warn him / blow him up for this?
Also, another question about weapons setup. I'm currently planning on this:
6x Outcast GB Turret
1x Missile Turret
1x Razor
Does this seem reasonable for anti-GB/Bomber duty and piracy?
Full outcast turrets would be best. Learn to turret steer and you'll be godly vs snubs (bombers and fighters).
Missile turrets are pretty useless nowadays.
As for the npcs, my character (if I had an outcast character) would be rather upset and would give them some strong words. If they have outcast pilots in their cargo hold, you've definitely got grounds to engage.
The loadout question has been answered.
Turretsteer and zoom is what you want to learn, I agree.
And about the reason to engage: Sure.
Perhaps one thought to keep in mind: Check the level and ship of the person doing the missions. If it is an unarmored CSV, repping by shooting base station only, perhaps it would be worth a thought to just let him do his grinding. Or, at least, if you blow him up, PM him and tell him he can come back and go on repping.
A player shooting Outcast NPCs is obviously hostile to the Outcasts, so yea, you've got grounds to attack him/her. Just be aware that there still needs to be roleplay before shooting. A simple "* An Outcast ace joins the defense of the installation and attacks you*" or similar suffices in this.
But also be aware that people doing simple base destruction missions are generally trying to fix their reputation.
