Found a small mistake, actually an omission. I didn't explain how to rehash ie reload the plugins. This has now been fixed both in the online version and the downloadable version.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

If you don't have MS Word, you can always use OpenOffice.org to view it.

And as always, if there is something you just can't get your head around, PM me here and I'll help all I can.

Basicaly wanna make sure i got everything setup right for home lan play. I know how to get the flhook commands and how to set a game player as admin. how do i give players equipment i.e. a cloak or jump drive? and maybe myself a admin restricted ship?

As stated earlier, to set up an admin character, then you go to the flhook console on the system running the server and type in 'setadmin {playername} superadmin' (minus the quotes) to set your admin character up.

In order to change the messages that display ingame when you login (and on regular occassions), you'll need to go to your discovery install folder (In XP it'll be something like 'C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\Discovery Freelancer 4.88.1\EXE\flhook_plugins' - and the simple way is to run the executable in that folder called "playercntlsetup.exe" - just give it time to load all the data - especially if you have an older system first. Once that's up & running you can modify pretty much what you want in there.

Further modifications beyond that probably aren't recommended until you become comfortable with changing the other config files manually.

Where logic won't work, I will.

You can also use DS Account Manager, which provides a proper UI for admin stuff. You can pretty much alter every character any way you'd like without having to bother with ini files or the more complicated admin hook commands.
