occured to me ever since I got a docking module. seems like a pretty good idea to me

you want special ops such as an assassination? hire a inconspicuous ship to smuggle you into enemy territory. great for avoiding conflict for when a cloaking device doesn't cut it. (also makes the smuggler feel like a dropship pilot and u can use cool words like "extraction" and "drop zone")

you want to surprise enemys from behind or prevent them from retreating? get smuggled behind enemy lines and wait for your frendlie's signal

maybe you are a refugee or a xeno. a ship smuggler will get you across sirius without fear of getting blown up by EVRYONE

or maybe you are an unlicensed synth weed trader, or a cardi trader just wanting to make some money delivering the good stuff to your most loyal customer.

or maybe you just a messenger delivering a secure package or a message, a ship smuggler can help you reach your recipient safely.

think of the possibilities: any ship with a docking module can become a ship smuggler, and while I have never been part of a smuggling faction, I think that onyx would have been much more active if they smuggled ships instead of cardimine in plane seight. thoughts?

No atmosphere? GTFO.

Brilliant use of Docking Modules, imo. Kudos!

OK, so it could be nice RP background, but what would it achieve ingame?

What does anything achieve ingame? It's for the RP. Does it have to achieve something other than a good story or RP adventure?

I love the idea personally. Make a good RP story of smuggling someone in, get some people together like a mini event or some such, kill/deliver/etc something, then post up what you did under lawful noses.

I personally want to smuggle kittens and puppies and have them breed like rabbits and cause a pandemic on some planet. Why? Because some men want to watch the world burn... with Kittens and puppies. Don't judge.

I need a drink...

This could actually work for roleplay - get a recycler or similar ship with a reasonable cargo hold that can dock with a docking module - the ship that has it equipped moves to near say manhatten with the ship that is docked filled up with cardi then when its reasonably clear or whatnot undock and they land.

Down side is that docking modules (What I remember being) can only dock ships with a cargo hold of 250 or less, effectively only allowing snubs and I think the Bottlenose as the only non-snub ship. So, for RP'ing dropping cardi off, awesome. For a way to make money inRP/sneakily, not effective. Cloaking is better. Which could also be fun. Have a transport filled with fuel that flies in, all innocent like, with a cloaked ship filled 3/4's with cardi just feeding off the transport till the destination.

True - it would work for roleplay purposes though.

Yeah precisely. Which, in it's own right is fun. I *may* have done something similar. Skirting the top of Manhatten with a bunch of lawfuls tooling around is fun. It's the race before they can scan you/the person you hauled in.

I think many have done something along those lines on occasion.
