Not such a great ideea to not pay the pirate, honestly, if it would be a real situation would you give all your credits or you would rather die?
If you make a ore run and you make 50-60mils profit what is 5,000,000 credits?

Not exactly... First of all, you will have 50-60mils profit, only in case, ore were mined by yourself. When you hiring miner, or buying ore from somewhere, you already have less, and it's about 50-60% your profit going to be.

Second, if you are an ore trader, and you being asked for only 5M, you are damn lucky. You can be asked to give up to 1/3 of your cargo's price. Some can demand more.
