Hello I'm a new member, having joined your community both here and in game this week. I know that currently the mod's current version is in beta phase so this could be nothing, or it could be something: I like playing the game at a high res of 1920x1080, so I googled some way to let me play the game in that way. Now I found both a mod, and a thread on some blog that seemingly provided help with that. The mod in question is even posted on these forums, called hudshift. Basically a library file and a few settings file you throw in standard freelancer and its supposedly to make it so the HUD doesn't get deformed or something, I'm not sure. The other was a bunch of custom settings to ini files located in the document's freelancer's folders.

Now, it works. I can go in and play at glorious 1920x1080 and no unusual stretching or anything. The only issue is when the game is started, everything is too big right up to the moment when I get in space with a ship, then it all evens out until I shut off the game and boot it up anew. The real problem, which I'm here to discuss after all of this backstory, is whether the server detects it as a form of cheating.

As I said I joined in this week, and in the very first day, usually when trying to get into one of the 'betacash' characters, the game would be forcibly minimized and then I would crash. A few moments later my colleague would inform me that "possible cheating was detected" on me. This happened so often that I got auto-banned. Again this usually only happened when getting in characters that were restarted with the betacash thing. I've been able to load normal characters without problem. But just for the sake of knowing, I want to know if its my settings, or if it was the betacash that crashed me.

Thank you for your time.

Hudshift comes packaged with Discovery v4.87 and does not need external files to operate. However, hudshift.ini does have to be transferred to the DATA\INTERFACE\ folder in order to operate. Adjusting any other .ini files apart from Hudshift.ini to the desired resolution for your display will most likely cause you to get banned for cheating.

I recommend you make a fresh installation of the Discovery mod. The anti-cheat systems prevents almost all clientside file modification except for some cosmetic changes.

There was a sig here, once.

Try Discovery Launchpad, it's a program that allows you organize multiple accounts and also includes a built-in solution for (custom) resolutions.
