OK so I finally got rid of that dang LSF tag and have my Interstellar commerce faction at the top...but it is not flashing. Now the only way I can think of to get it moved up more is to take missions for IC...but not sure my Camara trader is up for that, and I really do not want to trade it in on a fighter just to go kill a dozen or so NPCs and then have to trek all the way to get another Camara.
I want to run with a standard trader ID, so is it ok to use the trader ID but not have a tag. I know if you are tagged your ID needs to match. But if you use one of the generic ID's do you have to be tagged?
If I can not do the above, and it seems you can only use a bribe once for a faction. Is there any other way to raise it up without having to take missions?
I am not under the impression that ID and tag have to match... My smuggler is tagged as police while his ID is obviously smuggler.
I would consider that making sense in RP.. A smuggler isn't going to be SECRETLY moving illegal items through a police owned system with a pirate tag. That wouldn't make any sense.. As soon as he came up on sensors everyone would be like PIRATE! SCAN HIM! KILL HIM! Where if they see "police" they're less inclined to scan him and find out that he's running.
Moral: I don't think ID and Tags have to match... And if they have to there should be some exceptions.

If you invite someone to a group and they do the mission without you even leaving Newark, you still get the reputation credit. Doesn't matter if you're docked, dead, or in another system (I think), if you're in the group and the mission is done, you get credit.
However, the missions from Newark Station should be quite easy, since that's in New York; your Camara should manage just fine.
IDs and tags should match as closely as possible. If I were a trader, and I wasn't in Gateway *Cough* The best trader faction *Cough*, I would probably tag myself after whomever usually moves the goods I am shipping. Like if I were doing the diamond-niobium route, I would tag myself Republican. If I were doing the Beryllium-Engine Components route, I would tag myself BowEx, or if I were doing the Boron-Beryllium route, I would tag myself Gateway, and so on and so forth.
Instespace isn't a very good tag because, well, they shouldn't really be trading much, since they're an insurance company and not actually traders.
If you don't do a regular run, then you should probably be untagged, or tagged after a very generic, nonpolice faction, like Freelancers or IMG or Zoners or something like that. Just, please, don't tag yourself Police. Police is just silly for a trader, because you aren't Police, nor are you working for them.
Best of luck with your trader (now click on the recruitment links in my sig! - Joking, you don't have to.).

And that is where you are wrong. It's nice to "use" it for your smuggling, but the rules are clear.
Tag must match the ID as close as possible.
Trader with no tag is acceptable.

It is every Corsair's responsibility to die a beautiful death in defense of Crete, regardless of how OORP or how capwhoring the opposition is. Launch your fighter, joust the battlecruisers and die a beautiful death. Then, drink it down in the bar.
IFF should match as closely as possible the ID tag.
Just a question but why is it acceptable to have no tag?
$100 million+ credits of machinery with no sponsor?
As far as i understand it, as long as your Tag isnt controdicting your ID (Like Pirate ID with Police Tag, or Corsair ID with Outcast Tag) then its fine. Your tag imo isn't who you are working for, it just tells people who your friendly with, the ID is for telling people who you work for.
