The mention of 'rules lawyering' implies that you were explaining the rules to someone (telling them they had to leave the system, etc.) in the system chat, rather than through a private message. That itself (OOC in system chat) is its own sanction, but doesn't prove any kind of OOC insulting.
I see, maybe it was "rules lawyering" that they were mad about. I see players telling other players to leave the system all the time, I guess I didn't know that was illegal (is it written in the server rules?)
Even so saying "get out of here you worthless piece of crap" as a Zoner to a Phantom is a lot different than saying "Get out of the system now! its the rules!" in OOC in my opinion
Instead of reporting me the player could have said "You zoner scum! You can burn for eternity for all I care!" and it would have been an awesome scene of role playing, but instead I got reported... go figure.
Telling someone to leave in an IC way, such as 'get out of here you worthless piece of crap' is fine. But if you said 'you need to leave, the rules say so' in system chat, you'd be breaking the rules (which say no OOC in system chat, period). But if you said that in a private message, you'd be fine.
I've been sanctioned.... 3 times, and it flushed what reputation i had here down the drain . But i accepted each sanction, and learned from them. So just accept your punishment, and move on.
While some sanctions seem quite harsh, rules are rules. Read them, and re-read, follow them and you will be fine.
I guess so its just frustrating that the Discovery community is so intolerant and report happy. We are all mature I think, but we are treated like 6 year olds, and a good portion of us rat each other out like 6 year olds too.
Del contacted me and said he would forward my argument to the rest of the Admins. Its good to see there is someone with a open mind that is willing to listen to both sides of the story, lets just hope the rest of the admins are as open as he is.
