A group of heavily altered humans (such as not to classify as Homo Sapiens anymore), AIs and other fringe groups who were ostracized and cut out from society either by law, by custom or through bloody war. Based in the edge worlds, they seek to build a society that will accept their existence and struggle to survive against those who'd see the likes of them gone.
Brief History
"I was an explorer..travelling to places where men dared not to was my only thrill. But in the Edge Worlds, I encountered something that would send me on an entirely different kind of trip. Through the human race."
A sequence of events was set in motion when a Bretonian Explorer ran into a Sentient Artificial Intelligence out in the Edge Worlds in 794 A.S. The exact details of that encounter are not known, but consequently the Bretonian began a long investigation. His inquiries were mostly into the legal treatment of people dubbed as Transhumans, modified to such an extent so as no longer be completely human...and Artificial Intelligence.
His journey continued for many years, as he met many people of the transhumanist description, and realized that almost without exception, they were a fringe group. Without rights, subject to incarceration and abuse by the authorities and scorn by the populace. He talked to them, and made promises of a new home, where this state of affairs would no longer be allowed to continue.
This continued until 806 A.S, when the Bretonian was incarcerated by Libertonian Authorities on the charge of Human Trafficking. He was sentenced to fourteen years in Prison, and the people who'd listened to him and followed his direction went underground.
When he was finally released in early 820 A.S, he was a bitter man but he had not forgotten. The fight would begin once again, with words and with force. The Houses would be made to see that transhumanism was the way forward.
Shipline (probably)
-Modified Civilian Line
-AI Line
-Borderworlds Line
Diplomacy
Highly Variable, but the very nature of the organization will put them at odds with the Houses and the Order, while the Outcasts are likely to be more understanding of them. The organization is struggling to survive and gain recognition, so Piracy and smuggling may become a part of affairs.
Ranking Structure
Haven't thought much on this one.
-Leader (the explorer from earlier)
-Members
It is likely to be an egalitarian society.
Recruitment
Likely to be OPEN. Only characters of an AI or transhumanist disposition may join, however. If this gets off the ground, I'd subject apps to heavy scrutinization.
Other thoughts
AI factions and fringe groups are under-represented in disco, so this was an idea I had to hopefully accommodate both. This is not driven by zealotry or fervor like Garrett's idea, but would instead be a very practical organization who's hated by almost everyone trying to survive, through extreme means if necessary. Forgive me for the relative barebones that is this post, I was more interested in gauging response on the initial concept before elaborating on it.
After some help from Jihadjoe with the concept (Cheers man), I've decided to rework this a bit, and add more substance. If you're a fan of the initial concept, feel free to drop me a PM.

This reminds me too much of the SR)~
I didn't actually follow the SR RP much at all, so any similarities are accidental. And yeah I realise it's a bit bare right now, I'm bad at elaborating on ideas.
Don't see a point for making a faction, sounds like small group having fun, which is pretty easy to achieve.
ID/IFF ?

A real diverse group of misfits. IE making the id accommodate a wide array of ship lines and tech compatabilities unter the umbrellah of a faction would be interesting. though this group wpuld probably flurish under unoffical status.
if there was a conflict, a mission, a point of say philsophy thaat garunteed some sort of conflict it would be better but then again i think everyone feels rushed to pop out concepts.
