Pont du Gard was built in 821 A.S. by the group called Dangerous Requisitions Exploration Division, commonly referred to, as DRED|. The main purpose of the base was to initiate and fasten the clean up process of "Remoulins" wreck in the middle of Languedoc system.

The base served as a storage for the valuable scrap metal and its higher priced variant, premium scrap metal. Apart from this the empty storage bays of the base were used for storing raw, unprocessed ore materials, notably Beryllium Ore, which was mined in the Tau 23 system, a jump away from Languedoc. This gave the local traders a relatively easy way to move these unprocessed materials to shipyards and processing facilities at the other end of Gallia.

The current owners of the complex are The Simon Brothers. The ownership of the base changed hands to the Simon brothers, George Simon and Patrick Simon in the middle of 821 A.S. This was due to the sudden disappearance of many of the DRED| employees and the need for money to pay the company debts. The change happened as quietly and as smoothly as possible with not much advertisement.

The new ownership demanded more lucrative pay packages for the miners and at the same time, the transports that hauled the materials too recieved enormous amounts of profit. The Simon brothers are currently sponsoring for the upgradation of the infrastructure of the base. The base now has "Core 2" class infrastructure, with extended storage bays and a rumoured extraordinary equipment manufacturing depot.
