I've looked into this through the wiki's Guide, but it's a little outdated, unfortunately.

Can someone give me a nice step-by-step plan how to go about mining?
Since the /restart miner doesn't work anymore and can't start with a Bassalt ship.

I also read Bassalt is not a mining ship anymore, either(?).

What ID / IFF is needed to mine? Any Corp?

It's all a little much to take in as a starter, at least for me right now.
ID's, IFF's, etc.
I hope I'll get the hang of it sooner or later.

Use /restart beginner

You will get a miner ID freighter I guess. And once you got that, go to the Helium Field behind Planet Erie (the planet you start). See the nav map (on the top right corner) and go a little bit inside the filed instead of the skimming the outer edge of the field. Once you are well inside, you will see tiny rocks floating (not the ones that are static and big). Shoot those rocks with whatever gun you got and your cargo hold will fill up automatically when you do so. To check your cargo hold, press the inventory thing (again, top right corner) and click the cargo thing (bottom of the screen) in the screen that appears. You will see Helium in your cargo hold. Once you are full, you will recieve a voice alert and after that, go back to the Planet Erie, sell the Helium you mined to the Commodity dealer.

First steps towards mining. There are a lot more fields and better ships to mine in, with better profits and such. You will eventually learn about those as you progress. The above mentioned method is your first steps towards earning your early millions.

Any other doubt, PM me and I will be glad to help out.

If you are interested into mining, try to GMG or IMG restarts. For GMG, there are nice sports on Okinawa for mining (and landing on Shuri player station, selling that what you mined).

The other possibility is restarting with freelancer ID (or normal new character settings), getting Sunburst (? I always mix up names for those - freighter on Eire), getting yourself mining turrets and go ahead to the nebulae behind Eire, then sell it onto Planet Eire. You can try even try DSE restart with it, because they are all-in-one engineering faction.

I am not sure about Kruger Minerals after all.

I didn't know about the Beginner restart.
Thanks a lot!

Texas, for both Scrap and Premium Scrap mining. Though, premium scrap mining is the new sexy nowadays. The exact location of the Premium Scrap field is C3 I guess, though I am not sure about it. Inside the scrap field with radiation in the upper left of the Texas system.

Or else, you can try the Premium Scrap/Scrap field behind Trafalgar in New London. Less drop rate than in Texas, but relatively closer to a few sellpoints.

What about bornholm depot? That used to be the scrap mining Hotspot back in the day.

Where are the top sell points? First I've heard of premium scrap.

Scrap mining got nerfed because people were earning billions in no time apparently. I don't know anything about bornholm depot. People were mining scrap near Beaumont and selling it there, which was kinda bleh. So, the prices were reduced considerably and it made that a near useless commodity (?)

Soon, all the Junkers pissed off the admins to such an extent that they buffed Premium Scrap prices enormously. If that helps.
