I once took on a mission for the GMG of Naha station. The job was simple: rid the area of some pesky Corsair ships. Sounded straight forward enough, except the payment was a cool $150k.... *twice* the normal bounty in those parts. Something didn't smell right.... it seemed an awful lot of money for such a simple mission. But what could go wrong, I thought, I'd taken on Corsairs before and come out the better. They were even sending some support ships with me. So off I went in my merry Barracuda to make some extra cash.

We were hit by one wave then another of Centurions.... powerful ships and first-rate pilots by any reckoning. By fours and by sixes they came, but we cut them down to the last, the GMG fighters and me.

Then comes the third wave. Through the blazing guns and smoking wrack I look around and wonder, "where the hell are my wingmen?" Then I see it... creeping out of the gloom... *two* Osiris battleships! Those honourless Corsairs had sent battleships! And not just any -- the strongest of them all.

What a dreadful sight to behold! Huge and menacing they were, each with thrice my guns and armour thick as a planet. Damn you GMG, this was never part of the deal! It was clear now what had become of my brave wingmen -- permanent additions to the debris of Sigma 13.

Let it be known Onca's not one to back out of a deal, even a rotten one. I took on those terrible, unassailable dreadnaughts.... but it was more than my poor 'cuda could bear. I joined my hapless comrades that day, another wreck gracing the fields of broken ships.

So let this be a lesson, all ye brash noobs who hope to make a quick penny by the seat o' yer trousers.... beware the Corsairs of Sigma 13!

Ah... I remember my first Battleship mission encounter well. Those suckers cost me one hefty repair bill, though the mission controller compensated me nicely to cover it. Those Bounty Hunters had it coming!

Yea I remember mine it was in delta I was in a large train :haha: and I came across about 5 BH lib dreds :lol: they all died to (Jamez was also doing that mission with me but I did not back down we both kicked there asses and we where noobs back then :P )

I've been mildly miffed by one-shot weapons since their implementation, oh so long ago. I remember the days when fights were a matter of who could aim better, rather than who could aim a single shot. - Virus

Welcome.
I remember when i first fought BS's in a mission.
I had no novas yet and out of money to get the champ shields. I was going to get the codenames after doing a little mission. So i got one in delta, 500k.
I thought "well, slay some BHG VHF and get the money to get the stuff, a piece of cake"
When i reach the coordinates, i found 4 dreadnoughts O_o, and some VHF's...
It was a hard battle, a crippled fighter, with lvl6 shields and lvl8 RH weps against 4 dreadnoughts and 3 VHF's...
I won, barely.
After that i read the 4.78 whats new thread, and found that "Battleship killing missions were added to the new systems".

My First encounter was Much the Same Onca, Only I was on the Pirate side.

I was on Cadiz, And took a clean and sweep mission, The waypoint was in Cambridge against the BAF, Though meh, Britonian HF's arn't that bad.

When I arrive I had 4 Centurians with me, when I arrive, to my dismay I ran into 3 waves of Templars,*sigh* lets say it wasn't pretty, After the 3rd wave My Thruster was gone and a wing blown off, thats when they came.....

3 Turttle Battleships with another wing Of templars, The two Corsairs left charged, and where vaporized, There was no point, I tryed to dodge, but wasn't that effective without a thruster, Caught a Flak Cannon in the Rear and thats all she wrote......
