This evening, the server will be down from 9pm GMT till pretty close to 6am GMT. Why?
Pretty simple: We have a small hardware problem.
Seems that the SCSI Set up i have in there right now does not like the current configuration, so I'm setting up a different hard drive to work from. I have backed up the server and things will be restored one by one as we go along. Please note, however, that any current server-admin tools will be disabled afterwards.
Also one more thing. Regarding player whipes and compensation.
It is my personal opinion that if a member of any faction cannot take the time to read the forums (Especially the Server Threads) to keep up to date on happenings in Discovery Server and anything that might affect them, then they forfeit ANY compensation that we might give just cause thye're too lazy to check and log back in.
If they give me migitating circumstances (out of the house for extended periods of time, computer crash, or no internet) then I'd compensate. Otherwise, no compesnation.
If a player on Discovery cannot take the time to read server admin notices on this forum, then they're wasting my time by asking me repeat questions that are already answered here, honestly. I don't mind answering questions, but I'm not gonna compensate everyone and their mother just cause they're too bothered to check the forums. I have a *FULL* work schedule most days (this includes school work, webdevelopment, teaching taekwondo, and server admin crap for various servers in the world) and i still have time to read the forums. If I can, so can everyone who plays on the server.
Again, Server downtime from 9PM GMT till about 6AM GMT (It may be up sooner than that, depending on when I get things taken care of).
