I had this problem after reinstalling fresh copy of FL Disco.
After getting crash to desk problem solved i got intohad the issue of not being able to dmg npc's, players or even mine. So her is hoe i solved problem.
1. I uninstalled my Anti-virus from my pc ( i use Avast) as nothing worked when it was still on.
2. After that i openned DL and deleted all accounts. You will wanna go ingame firdt and transfer cash to 1 ship and make \drawcash opsion on it. Delete all char if you want to rename it on new account but only keep cash ship.
3. After all accounts are deleted uninstall disco 4.88 from pc from installed location. Go to document folder\my games\disco folder and delete account file.
4. I then reinstalled disco 4.88 and ran DL updates without anto-virus. If DL greats a default acount delete aswel. Do not creat new accounts yet. Close DL and reinstall your anti-virus and make your disco 4.88 installation location an exeption in virus detection section.
5. If thats all done create all your old accounts and start logging to rename to al old char. PS: if you did not delete them of ingame you will not be able to use same names. Use the \draw cash command to retrieve your credits from cash ship.
After this proses i got my ships to dmg and mine again. For some its gonna be a pain to do with large amount of accounts but it is how i solved dmg and crash to desktop problem.
