Alright, time to discuss this sensitive topic.

What is autoaim? Autoaim is an ability when flying Capital ships and transports to zoom out 5k while in turret mode and make aiming EXTREMELY easy.

Is it overpowered? Yes, for some classes, like gunboats, it definetely is. Especially combiing it with turret steeeing. For others, like battleships, it's what's keeping them from being completely useless. That's why here are my ideas:

1. Reduce the turret zoom range on ALL classes to 2.5k
Probably the worse than my next suggestion , but it would tune down the autoaim. 5k is just too much.

2. Make turret zoom limit for each class respectively, more specifically:
Battleships - 4k or 5k
Cruisers - 3k
Transports - 2.5k
Gunboats - 2k
Freighters - 1k
Snubs - 500m or 0

I don't know if it's doable but this would be a better idea in terms of balance. It would balance out each class respectively.

Oh and for the love of god please don't write "But X class has been nerfed too much leave it as it is qq". If it's overpowered then I don't really care how much they've been nerfed before that. Yes, I'm talking about gunboats.

It's fine as it is now. There's always downsides to zooming out all the way. If there are NPCs, you could target them by accident. I always zoom out so I'm about 5/6 notches out when turret steering. I'm also not sure how hard it can be sometimes. So no, this seems like a bad choice.

Sure, and at the same time, let's get "whenever your ship is destroyed, you'll respawn in a Starblazer" thing too no ?

Why do you want to change something that's been in the game for a while now and after like a year of having it, it starts to bother some of the PvP orianted branch ... Oh wait, I know why, cause it's way harder to gank a transport, or to nuke a cap or stuff like that ... and people started using it, no matter how much they get called loosers, cowards and <insert random Disco-wide used rudeness> by those who can't get the kill message in 30 seconds for a transport.

And before you ask, I've been on both end of this story , yet I don't mind at all, cause fe. it's so freaking easy to take an average transport down in a Waran for example if its pilot is not familiar with TS and TZ that it's almost ... well, tooo easy. On the other hand, if someone can use them effectively, I don't mind getting blown up by them cause they did a good effort.

As for the transport side , at least there is some confidence that if it comes down to a pew-pew ( which due to the way people play here , except a few people , it will ) I know I can get out of it "alive" if I'm doing it well enough.

Hate me for it, couldn't care less, stop fixing what ain't broke, just cause some don't like it ...

Zooming all the way out on GBs and Transports tend to mess with the aim anyways depending on the gun. Not really an issue honestly

I must as well agree that maximum zoom out does bad trick to you, so I think, if on would like to make it more challenging - must limit them even more. But I am not sure about the numbers.

Zooming out too much makes your aim clogged with a crapload of prediction markers that cause your guns to shoot a random one, and you're lucky if it's the desired target. Autoaim can also be messed up by torps and CDs. It's okay as it is.

The zoom is fine, just remove gunboat solaris and the freighter class instead.

Your first mistake is trying to kill any of these classes with a fighter, or at least trying to do it yourself in a single snub.
'autoain' as you call it is balanced and served as a deterrent for snub classes bring the 'kill-all' classes.
