Sudden Reboot during games

if you want to know what is getting overly hot (anywhere not just CPU) you can try something like this

or try putting your finger on the chips if you cannot get your hands on one
simplest to fit a known working PSU and test it
is it only during games this happens ? indicating graphics or ram
also test your PSU in another machine if you can, it maybe shutting down to protect from overload in that PC ie mobo , ram or other fault
disconnect anything non essential to eliminate other possibilities

also although you said you got a 650watt psu doesnt always mean thats enough, check the amps on the 12v rails for what the graphics card needs, ive said this so many time and its easily missed, the wattage doesnt necessarily mean itll cope, you could have a 1000w psu and only 19amps on the rails and things will go wrong

on the side of the psu should be a white sticker

eg this is a 1000w



it might be 1000w but with only 18amps on the 12v theres not enough supply the graphics card,itll cope for a bit then itll pop

trust me ive seen it happen loads of time


but then again it might not be any of this, but worth a check

Thanks guys for your feedback. All fans are working, there's no dust at all. Not checked the temperature yet but we'll do that soon.

@evanz JUst had a look at the PSU. This is what it says:

Though the computer was built from a PC building company (DInoPC) so I would have thought everything would have been fine?

We had a look at the logs and this was a concerning log under critical:

Event ID: 41
Source: Kernel-Power
Log: System

"The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."

So I assume this is the problem?

Edit: Turns out there was a program installed on that day along with an update for it. "Adobe Acrobat Reader DC" though I don't see how that could cause a problem?

Also on all of his games, if you select recommend graphics setting everything is bumped down to low yet it can easily be played on ultra.

looks like its got upto 50 amps if needed so thats looking, ok, what you could do is get hold a psu tester see if theres fluctuating power or spike drops

i very much adobe reader is the problem

I had similar crashes on my computer, PSU was the problem. I would suggest you to look at this page if you plan to buy a new one.

Since this issue has been going on for about a week now, my father is pretty annoyed about it. He's just phoned up the company he got his computer from and he's sending it back to get it fixed. The Company did say that it would be an issue with the PSU so they're going to replace it. Thanks for the help.
