Hey guys (and ladies),

Having never flown a capital ship before discovery, I have no expertise in arming a cruiser. Right now I have a couple pretty decent cruiser turrents off of Kyoto Base and some light battleship ones but I'm interested in getting my hands on a pair of missile turrets. I've read some nice things about the bret ones.

I'm also trying to keep energy usage to minimum (I don't want to be out in like 3 shots and have to wait to recharge) and am trying to have a set of armament that is capable of dealing with capital ships but also fast/efficient enough to dispatch fighters with relative ease.

Any advice would be great, thanks y'all!

missile turrets are slow are give you time to recharge, just put 3 on your ship 5 at the most and depending on what cruiser you are using if its liberty-KEEP THE GIANT GUN ON AT THE FRONT
as that drains the most power but thats depending on the cruiser.

I like cruisers, in fact I have all cruisers except for my Large Train and Rheinland bomber. I have owned the most of the cruisers (all except the BH cruiser)and will give you my impressions.
I like cruisers because: I can carry cargo, I can hold loot from pirating, I have shields to fend off large numbers of pirates or those pesky Nomad groups, I can easily cruise thru asteroids without getting hung up or spinning.
Weapons loadout depends on what you want to use it for.

Nomad hunting: 1 Mortar, 2 battleship missles- this will take out one or more Nomad fighter in a Nomad battle group with one shot and injure most of his group. I use standard cruiser turrets for the remainder as no need for shield busting with Nomads. You can easily take out the fighters, then the gunboats and then the battleship in this order with this weapon load out.

Hunting NPCs: I use Corsair cruiser or light battleship turrets, they have a fast refire rate and are good for taking out pirates. I have tried Chain gun Solaris and they are energy hungry and inacurrate weapons so, I don't use them. I also equip 2 or more cruiser missles for those especially quick turning LF that I have a hard time targeting. I include 2 Tizona turrets for NPC fighter shields but don't use them in PVP as most people frown upon that.

PVP: That is the tough part. You may have to fight a LF, HF, VHF, or cap ship and need to be prepared for all. My current load out (Note: this is MY idea of a good load out and may not suite you!) is-
-2 shield busters, I use gunboat inferno cannons as they use less energy and leave more power for my turrets.
-1 or 2 Battlerazors. Again I use gunboat for the reasons above.
-2 to 4 battleship missles. They will spin the opponents cap ships (esp BS) so they can't track you and fire back. They also are good for large damage IF you hit a fighter. (big IF)
-the rest I use Corsair cruiser turrets or standard cruiser turrets, I usually mix half and half.

Quote:if its liberty-KEEP THE GIANT GUN ON AT THE FRONT
I got rid of my Liberty cruier PDQ! I hate that front gun. It ONLY fires foreward, does not track, is a slow moving weapon and almost always misses unless you are at point blank range or homing in on a BS that cannot move out of the way!

BabyDoc: Large Train
DragonKnight: Liberty Assault Frigate
Shadowen: Albatross Frigate
[MiD]The_Enforcer[Ace]: Rheinland bomber
[DJC]The_Kraken: Heugenot Cruiser

Well, my LI Cruiser has missiles, forward gun and 2 order battleship turrets.
It's mostly anti fighter, but can handle a BS very well. People who fought my cruiser can tell you that.

If those weps exceed specs, i would had been kicked by the game the moment i undock.

By Exceeding ship specs it means mounting lvl10 weps on lvl9 slots, bs shieds on something smaller than a bs. BS weps works fine on cruisers. That is, if you can keep up with the energy requirement.

IMO there is a reason why we have gunboat, cruiser and battleship weapons and equipment!

I mean, really, keep to that people! Or go play TNG ffs!

If the stars should appear one night in a thousand years, how would men believe and adore and preserve for many generations the remembrance of the city of God? - from 'Nightfall' by I. Asimov
The Outcasts consider Siniestre Nube a sacred place for several reasons. Early explorers discovered a jumphole within the depths of the cloud that leads to a strange world of ringed stars and strange craft. All ships in the burrial ground are placed facing that hole to honor the Alien Spirits. - An Outcast rumor

my thing is just either alow it or dont cause double standards arnt hey way to go

personally i think the dmg on bs trrets should be bumped a bit and all razors and infernos removed form the game i think it would allow for more wepon variations form ship to ship... cause all you see now is ships with battle razors and infernos and missle turrs and a few random turs in between and if yo dont have a load out like that your ship gets creamed
