I appreciate this too.

But i have a question about gerneral bounties.
e.g. 1 milion bucks on every freelancer's head.
(I heard about this yesterday)
I think such bounties are a bit abusive.

Quote:If a mercenary, freelancer, or BHG arrives on the scene of combat and is available for hire to the participants, then the hiring should be done in system or local chat so that both sides of the conflict can see what is going on. Since mercenaries should be working for the highest bidder, both sides should have an opportunity to hire the merc. Mercenaries who just show up, choose a side and start attacking are going to be in big trouble.

Can you link me to the changed rule please, as this over-rides freelancer, mercenary, and trader ID rights to hunt pirates and terrorists.

From what you have posted there it appears to me that my freelancer tagged bombers would not be able to engage battling Xenos at west point for example.

And if this is correct can we please edit the IDs asap? thats not going to happen huh? No im not being sarcastic. Eagerly awaiting response.

Thank you Xoria and others for your quick replies:)
Clears everything up. Apologies for the first post actually, I wasn't clear in what I was questioning. I was curious about Mercenary contracts, not the bounties. All cleared now however and thank you all for your help.

In regards to this,
Would the admins consider the following definitions.

Bounty - an agreement for the destruction of a specific target or any member of a specific group.
Example - 50 million bounty on the destruction of Jim.Black.

Contract - a long term agreement to aid a specific group or in a specific operation.
Example - 2 million per battle for aiding the LN in the defense of New York against any agressors.

I can see where bounties would need to be posted in order to notify the target as well as allow any pilot a chance to collect. Contracts are on a as needed basis depending on what is happening that day and thus can not be predicted unless one group wishes to hire a group on retainer for on call duties.

Without allowances for Contracts then merc's, freelancers and BH's will have close to no work at all.

In addition, most lawful forces will find themselves overwhelmed very quickly since there will be no chance to call for reinforcements. No prior bounty means they can be on site but can not attack at all.

so, if a mercenary wants to take a job escorting a trader, it has to be posted.

That makes a whole lot of sense -_-

Which part was unclear? This is BOUNTIES, not escorting traders, or even joining either side in a fight.
Bounties, ladies and gentlemen, just bounties ... Those convenient on the spot, revenge type bounties
that no one knows about, and in certain cases, do not actually exist.
Those single, or repeat kill bounties on single or specific groups of players ... This is what we are talking
about. Those need to be out in the open, and posted in the roleplay forum.
Since when has escorting traders been classified as a bounty? That's just earning a wage.
