I was hoping to play as a corrupt space-cop, I have a liberty police id and am in negative reputation with all the pirate factions but ideally I wanted to be a pirate who had infiltrated the police and uses his police id as cover for his illegal activities, is there an ID that would suit this character? Or a way I can join a pirate faction whilst still using the police ID?
This is the kind of thing you'd want to pursue an SRP for. Until then, idk maybe write a story documenting that Pirate's life with the Pirate ID, then RP him enlisting with something like LPI and being a corrupt cop? And once you've wrapped all that up, then apply for the SRP

Pretty much this. It's your own choice how you pursue that SRP, but I'd play with the LPI ID and simply be passive-corrupt. You can RP a corrupt cop as long as your RP stays within the restrictions of your ID.
If your SRP ends up being approved, do not exaggerate by pirating anything and everything. I've got an SRP'ed infested cop myself and I tell you people will ruin your RP by reporting your corruption to the LPI HC inRPly. I recommend you to plan your SRP with the LPI leader, who can tell you what you will face and what your limits are.
