Topic: Planet Nuremberg: relief and evacuation

Good day, madame Viermann

My name is Alex. I'm a member of the Seraphim group. I believe you met another representative of the project recently, Dankien Moebus. He introduced me to the troublesome state of the ecology and welfare in the Munich system and especially at Planet Nuremberg.

There are two potential actions we, the Seraphim, can take to imrpove the situation for civilian population caught in the Munich disaster. The first is to deliver relief commodiries such as pharmaceuticals, food rations and alike. The second is to evacuate those who is willing to leave the planet to safer and more comfortable places.

As a relatively small organization, the Seraphim barely could be expected to provide supplies in amounts sufficient to sustain the whole planet, however small be the remaining population. Of course, we could provide supplies for certain facilities on the planet, like the hospital you're running.

We could be more efficient in managing and facilitating the evacuation of people from Nuremberg. I took the liberty to prepare a list of locations suitable for permanent relocation from the planet of those who desire to leave it. Please, see below for the list with brief desriptions. All those locations are in Rheinland space, which makes sense so people won't have to leave their House.

These descriptions could be used as a draft for sharing to potential migrants to help them make their choice.

[+]Spoiler
Planet Holstein (Frankufrt)

This planet in Frankfurt system is run by Daumann Heavy Construction administration. It features mild climate and is really close to the Nuremberg people's origin: right in the next system. The following is excerpt from Neural Net description of the planet:

Quote:Terraforming continues on Holstein, with the average temperature slowly rising, which makes conditions on the planet more pleasant by each year. The process is expected to take another two decades to finish. Nevertheless, Daumann has already started to develop several industries on the planet, most of which revolve around the harvesting and processing of the mineral salts into agricultural fertilizers, and the production of Industrial Materials for both Rheinland and export to other houses. Aside from these industries, the rising temperature has also drawn a few enterpreneuring farmers from Stuttgart, who are gambling the improving climate will steadily improve their crop yields. The population of the planet is estimated to be around 60 million, increasing steadily.

Note that we need confirmation from Daumann administration to move significant numbers of citizens to the planet. We just have contacted the administration, so we are not ready to confirm this location yet.

Planet Saarbrucken (Koeln)
Situated in the system of Koeln, this planet offers more harsh living conditions than Holstein, as stated in Neural Net entry:

Quote:Saarbrucken is a world with a primitive ecology, only barely suitable for human life. Like Planet New Berlin, it is a place of extremes; much of the planet is arid desert, save for mountainous regions that curiously exhibit a tropical climate.

However, due to the active development of the Koeln system, Saarbrucken seems to offer more job opportunities and prospects for settlers moving there. No interested party is actually controlling the planet at the moment. However, the access to the planet is provided by Tholey station which belongs to Bounty Hunters Guild. We are negotiating the logistics with them.

Planet Hammersee (Luneburg/Sigma-15)
Being the latest addition to the Rheinland space, this planet is a true frontier. As such, the stakes are high there. Potential colonists might acheieve great success there, but they will have to work hard and endure difficulties unmatched in more developed worlds. Here's how the Neural Net describes the conditions at the planet:

Quote:Hammersee is an uninviting and tectonically active moon of Planet Juist, situated in the Sigma-15 system in far orbit of the primary star. The surface is dry and dusty, with volcanic activity commonplace. Despite this, the few lakes and small seas dotting the planet are easily desalinated due to their low salt content, and there is enough oxygen in the atmosphere to support human life, albeit uncomfortably.

Hammersee is controlled by Rheinland government directly. I believe there will be no objections from their side to move Rheinland own citizens to the planet.

I would suggest that you and your compatriots start registeing passengers for transporting to the planets listed above. I believe your organisation have all necessary infrastructure in place. Please, let us know how many people you expect to move to every suggested location.

All the best,
Alex Mush

»RE: Planet Nuremberg: relief and evacuation

Sehr geehrter Herr Mush,

You can't imagine how glad I am to hear from you again. Things have changed quite dramatically since you visited my quaint little workplace. The dam broke, so to speak, and people are literally lining up on the streets to find opportunities to leave Nuremberg — I'm sure I do not have to tell you how dangerous this can be. Many, in a surge of opportunistic greed, exploit the situation to earn money but we've heard rumors of some rather unsettling wheelings and dealings in regards to organ trade and slavery. The Nordgau Hospital is currently flooded with people who have gotten into fights on the streets trying to assert their ownership over certain less than licit means of travel.

I am flattered that you think I am able to orchestrate an evacuation effort, but I must inform you that you are ill-informed in that regard, as such a thing is way beyond my influence — I merely sympathize with them. I am the head surgeon of a hospital that is understaffed and not funded sufficiently. My first and foremost concerns pertain to the immediate welbeing of those placed in our care. Just today I got a report of one of our service stuff observing patients literally stealing our furniture and first aid kits when they thought we were not looking. I am sure this seems petty to you but if we cannot even prevent our belongings from being pilfered, how do you expect us to search for people to relocate?

We are grateful for the aid that your organisation has been willing to provide us with and we would be delighted to see this trend continue for the betterment of the sick and ailing. Herr Moebus brought a synthetic heart among other things the last time. It now rests safely in the chest of a man who would have otherwise died.

I am sad that we cannot assist you further, but our current situation has us all working tripple time. I am sure you could reach our to the Widerstandsarmee in case you have not done so already. Maybe you can work something out with them.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen
Helena Viermann M.D. PhD

Doctor Viermann, thank you for prompt response. It's really nice to talk to you.

The development of the situation as you describe it is really grim. I hoped that we would be able to provide our assistance in time, but it looks like we will have to follow the flow of events. Moreover, right now I'm personally preoccupied with the crisis unfolding in Omicron Delta. I can only leave the system for short period of time in coming couple of weeks. However, me and Mr Moebus will try to arrange at least one delivery of medical supplies to your hospital with other members of the group. I will send you details in this channel once we are prepared.

Regarding evacuation, I would expect that you could provide some list of 'top priority' evacuees. Like wounded, seriously afflicted and venerable patients of your clinic. I fully understand that in given circumstances handling such lists might be too much burden for you, so don't worry about that.

I would appreciate if you could get me in touch with someone from the VWA to review our propositions and discuss it further. It might be faster than sending broadcast messages over the comm channels.

With best regards,
Alex Mush

Doctor Viermann,

The situation in Omicron Delta system seems to calm down a bit. I'm ready to arrange the delivery of medical materials for your hospital.

Given the limited cargo capacity of my freighter, I will combine the most vital stuff in this shipment:

150 crates of Pharmaceuticals
200 units of Human Organs
100 containers of Synth Paste

I will also bring a Mobile Medical unit for your needs. Hope that will help to relief your patients.

Please, send a transport to the landing pad closest to the Nordgau Hospital, or tell me where it's better to land.

With best regards,
Alex Mush

Doctor Viermann,

It was a bit since we talked last time. I was hoping to meet you in person while making the previous shipment. However, I understand just how busy you should be. Anyways, thanks for picking up the cargo.

I'm a bit worried about your situation. How is it going for you? How the hospital is holding together? I hope you are doing well, as much as it is possible given the circumstances.

We have made some progress with arranging the evacuation. Might start pretty soon.

Meanwhile, I collected some more supplies that might interest you in my hold. This time it's bigger, as I got my transport ship back after few repairs. Below is a scan of my cargo hold, please take a look.

When you can pick up the shipment and what's the best place for me to drop it?

Looking forward to hear from you,
Alex Mush

»RE: Nordgau Hospital -- medical supplies

Sehr geehrter Herr Mush,

Let me prefix this by saying: I am sorry. Unforeseen happenstances seemed to have conspired against me and I seem to have fallen ill myself — Ironic, really, considering where I work. Germs tend to rapidly adapt to the harsh, sterile environment and become immune to many medications, which can make them quite dangerous. After all, antibiotics are an essential part of your average joe's medical care, one that is affordable to anyone.

Needless to say, things went a little over the uneven road, yet all seems well. The supplies you brought until now have done wonders to better the situation; we have even started to distribute redundant materiell to other nearby medical facilities, and I am sure we will be able to do the same with the new supplies. The hospital has several landing pads that are intended to be used by suppliers, though most of them have been inert and unmanned for the longest time. As it stands, these are fairly useless to be used for a vessel your size, though, therefore I suggest you stay at the dock and I come up with something to reliably transfer everything. Expect someone to pick it up within the hour.

We are thankful for your support.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen
Helena Viermann M.D. PhD

Dear Dr. Viermann,

I'm so sorry about your illness. I sincerely hope you will get well soon. If you'd like, I can come to your place and examine you myself. Maybe I could help? If anything else I can do for you, just tell me.

I will arrive at the Nuremberg spaceport today, around 2100 standard time. Please, send someone to pick up the shipment.

Sending all the best wishes,
Alex Mush
