Adding a different color like blue would be nice. Changing the thrust speed no, it'd be too impactful on pvp. Not only snubs use thrusters, and having +5 thrust speed on cruisers, battlecruisers and transports would be a big difference on top of it being really strong in snub groupfights when chasing someone.

Honestly I still don't get why people strive for expressing their individuality with such cosmetic things instead of focusing on the gameplay/RP. It's like dyeing your hair green; may look fancy (not really), but won't change things much, you'll get tired of that after some time anyway.
Back in the days of prosperity of this mod people usually devoted themselves to something more useful than just having differently-coloured lights/engines/thrusters. Forgive me for my nostalgic words, though.
What comes to the change of the thruster speed, that's not acceptable. The current speed balance has lived for long already, we shall avoid any dramatic reformations.

Customisation is nice. It is a good moneysink and it is fun. So I don't see why not have stuff like that. Since engines have no gameplay value anyways.

I played with the effects, trying to find it, and well, yeah, it is possible.

Cosmetics is more important than you think, be surprised. I'd love to see variety.
