Hello people, so you may wonder who i am and why i write this. I write this tutorial for two reasons actually. First, i pretty much broke my keyboard and using pc s touchpad and cant play the game cuz of that, Second reason is i see people just trying to charge at things and dying horribly. Anyway enough chitchat. I will cover most popular battleships, how to use them, Basic battleship vs battleship combat and loadouts. While learning combat i recommend using either an Osiris or Overlord. So you learn keeping distance and not charging like an idiot.

I. Basic of battleship combat and generalistic loadouts
Before bringing your beast, which we assume its an overlord, out of drydock, better be sure to equip it with at least Capital Armor Upgrade Mk V. Lower than that and youll be food. As an all-round versatile loadout you can use 2 mortars and a cerberus, 4 primary turret and 2 flak fill rest with secondaries. Lets move to how to use your battleship now.

1. Weapon groups
Unlike snubs, you cant fire your all weapons in caps. Thats why you group weapons. For grouping, bind keys to Activate Weapon Groups 1-6 and assign same type of weapons to each weapon group. Mortars in one group, primaries on another, secondaries on third one, cerberus+primaries on another and that is the only exception.

2. Turretsteering
Thats the very key of capital ship combat as you need to keep distance. You using an Overlord for the sake of this tutorial and no, you cant blindly charge to a Valor! You need to keep your distance, be on the move and dodge incoming fire! To turretsteer, you bind Pitch up/down and Turn left/Right. Activate turret view and control your ship with pitch and turns.

3. How to Dodge
Now you know how to manage your powerplant and how to turretsteer. Without knowing how to dodge however, you are a sitting target. Basic dodge involves boxing, with turns this time. More like circling it becomes.

there is not much to do with a legate
you charge at your enemy with turretsteering and fire primarys and mortars in between every couple of seconds

You better get the advice from Thunderer. His Legate training hour was pretty, pretty useful.

Nothing against you, Shooter, but Thunderer's trainings hour covered the weakspots about the common enemies you fight with a Legate and how to fight in fleets and solo. The result was that I'm annoying the shit out of enemy caps now with my legate.

And then again, there are multiple ways on how to use the Legate efficient. For example, I don't use cerbs but deshield everything with battleship missiles and then throw all the heavy mortars. Range-superiority. The only weakness of the Legate with my loadout is mid-range right, as the Legate can't dodge nearly as well as an Overlord or Dunkirk. In that case, either fall back or cruise up and go in at melee. When your Legate is more than 1.5k away from the enemy Dunkirk, you shouldn't even bother with primaries but fall back and pressure with Heavy Mortars. However, that workds only with Light and Medium Battleships. Against a Turtle, the Legate is effed the moment it gets close. Rule of thumb: The tank goes in.

It was literally just an hour with Thunderer in Conn.

Do not forget, You can strafe if the shape of the ship is good
a valor or legate will strafe up and down to dodge and attack whilst a dunkirk, mako, tokugawa or any horizontal thin ship will strafe left and right

Also Strafing along side turret steering really does turn it into an art of warfare, truly a pool of skill waiting to be unlocked once again

Also remove the "That is the only exception" for obvious reasons, You;re implying there is only one way to fight.

For light battleships usually mortars light or heavy is good, if you often encounter other lights 1 mortar and 1 cerb will do
For medium, 2 mortars and one cerb if you fight heavier ships, if the same or lower 2 cerbs and 1 mortar is pretty good
For heavies... you can go with many loadouts for your 4 heavy weapon slots, its up to you but the golden rule is atleast one mortar is mandatory.

Also Overlord and Dunkirk are very alike and in my oppinion (my oppinion) are the best battleships to learn first, as turret steering and strafe are viable options for both along side the mixed array of weapons and different foe's you encounter with both
