Fascist Terrorists Repelled By TC-ALG Taskforce

An ALG battlecruiser speeds towards Unioner terrorists battling Taiheiyo Consortium security personnel near Planet Saigon.

NIIGATA STAR CITY - A joint TC-ALG patrol found themselves defending sovereign Guild space on Monday evening from a horde of Rheinland pirates. Labeling themselves as the "Alster Union" or "Unioners" for short, these fascist aggressors entered the Sigma-15 system and exploited Zoner neutrality to avoid justice as dealt out by Guild law keepers. Although asked to return to Bundesrepublik space numerous times, the brigands instead elected to pierce deeper into the heart of the Sigmas, running away from Guild and ALG forces towards Sigma-21. The joint battlegroup pursued the criminals with haste.

Upon arriving in the system, the pirates declared it to be "Imperial Rheinlandic space", a statement many on-site agreed felt nonsensical, given the outcome of the Eighty Years War. With support from two ALG gunboats and an ALG battlecruiser, TC fighters defended Sigma-21 with valor and skill. Although taking heavy losses, the fascists were driven back by the Consortium and ALG.

Commander Chloe O'Brien, Chief of Security for the Consortium and owner of Border Worlds Security Consulting, LLC., later gave a statement regarding the incident:

The recent transgression by right-wing elements of Rheinland's criminal underbelly should be taken as a sign of their intentions for the near future. We've already had reports of these Unioners diving further and further to the north of Rheinland. Inevitably, these pirates will come into contact with the Gas Mining Guild's sovereign territory, and they will undoubtedly seek to prey upon innocents and Guild operations.

Citizens of the Sigmas are advised to stick to the trade lanes and avoid contact with any uncharted areas. If you see anything suspiscious in your area, feel free to contact the Taiheiyo Consortium's CloudWatch offices on Niigata.

I can safely say with confidence that we, with the cooperation of our allies, will soon deal with the threat presented by these bandits.

Many have speculated as to how this will affect the varying claims in Sigma-21. Some observers and pundits postulate that the increase in violent activity in the system could lead to more aggressive actions by claimants in staking their claim to the system. Only time will tell what will become of this Border Worlds jewel.

Shuri Base Under New Management

The first true He-3 distribution station of the Taiheiyo Consortium floating in the Mintaka Hydrogen Field.

SHURI BASE - One of the most significant business transactions in the history of the Taiheiyo Consortium took place today as Shuri Base, one of the largest Helium-3 distribution installations, was purchased from the original owners, Stone Bros. Ltd/GmbH. The station was purchased for an undisclosed amount of credits after brief negotiations with the previous owners.

A press conference was held shortly after the signing of the purchase contract. Sean Stone, the Executive Director of Stone Bros. Ltd/GmbH, gave the following statement at the conference:

I am really glad we were able to strike a deal over Shuri Base. It is not easy for our company and even for me personally to leave it, because we built this place from a tiny station to a huge multipurpose complex and we even lived on the base for quite some time, but numbers from the economy department about the financial condition of the whole company as well as lossy running of Shuri leaves us no other choice. I wish the new owners good luck and better results than we had.

Sora Kobayashi, a senior member of the Consortium Board of Directors, commented on the deal:

It really is a momentous day for TaiCon. Our efforts to establish greater Helium-3 and Hydrogen mining operations in Guild space will be bolstered tenfold by the acquisition of our own collection and distribution center. Although Shuri is slightly remote, we have no doubt that we will be able to turn a profit from the installation and utilize the profits responsibly. We at the Consortium feel this is another one of many important steps in strengthening the sovereignty of the Sigmas.

The station, located in the Mintaka Hydrogen Field in the Okinawa system at grid G4/H4, will soon be open for prospective traders looking to involve themselves in Helium-3 shipping.
